What's new?
Well, I had a few days off last week. I thought I could get caught up, or get rested. I don't know, I was feeling better, but then ran into a bout of fatigue again over the weekend. It's very frustrating! I'm not a fan of this post-Covid crap!
Okay, so enough about me and my issues. On the ranch, I've had some opportunities to make some 'boots' for a calf to prevent knuckling over. We also had a new calf with a broken leg that we've splinted. We'll see if the splint holds up or if we need to take him in to be casted at the vet clinic this week. It's been fun using my skills on the ranch! The guys send me videos of cows for gait analysis too!
I am also looking forward to warm weather and planting my garden! I've bought a bunch more new seeds and I can't wait to get the yard, garden, & flowerbeds cleaned up!
Okay, there is so much on the go this month! I'll leave it at that for now!
So, that's it for the updates... On with the show!!

Four Leg BLOG:
THE GASTROPEXY DILEMMA
|
|
How many of you have treated dogs after bloat, gastric torsion, and subsequently gastropexy?
I have one dog that I treat for maintenance on a monthly basis who has had this sequelae of events. Almost every time, I find a stiff and tender spot in his mid to caudal thoracic spine and associated ribs. No matter what manual therapy techniques I try, it’s always still stiff and painful. Usually when I get
to the point of thinking, “What am I doing wrong??” I remember that this dog has had a gastropexy and I wonder if that is part of his issue.
So, for this blog I wanted to go into this surgical technique and discuss my thoughts on the [unintended] consequences of this surgery as they relate to the musculoskeletal (and visceral) systems. I am also looking for YOUR feedback on the topic as well!
Okay, so here goes:

For over a year, I worked with Physiotec (an online exercise platform) to create a exercise prescription platform for canine rehab practitioners. And this is it!
I've put hundreds of exercises together onto this handy platform. You can find the exercises, print off a handout, send them a link to the VIDEOS of the exercises. There's so much: Massage, owner-friendly joint therapies, exercises, advisement, etc, etc!
NOW... be aware that this platform is run by / owned by Physiotec (and they charge separately for it's use)... and the support for the website is via physiotec as well. The MAIN GLITCH I am finding now... is that when you e-mail or call tech-support you will NEED to LET THEM KNOW that
your question pertains to FOURLEGEXERCISE! (Otherwise, it's a bit of a schmozzle to get sorted, because they direct you to the Physiotec website vs FourLegExercise website!!!) Check it out and LET ME KNOW (what you think, your experiences, etc... so that I can report back if there are issues!)
I hope you find it useful!
Go there... Check it out!!!

Have a great week everyone!
