Affordable & Expansive Learning to be had! What's new? So, I had a fun and productive week last week! I had an unexpected day off (but didn't learn about it until AFTER I had gone into work.) So, I went to the local market and loaded up on veggies. Then I went back home and built all of the raised garden boxed I had ordered for next year - and the following day - with
the help of my assistant, filled them (sticks, cow poop, grass clippings, dirt from the mole hills around the yard, compost, and new bags of planting soil.) We also re-arranged the garden area. I need to wood chip old dead branches to create a mulch pathway around them, but I'm so excited, I cannot wait until next spring! Picture below.
I also gave a talk on the Sacroiliac Joint to a group of NAVP physios in the UK - and I
think it went well. Friday, I replaced my printer and answering machine/phone in the office - which I've been meaning to do for months (had the new ones purchased long ago)... so the office is a bit tidier, as it necessitated some dusting and rearranging. I created some documents, some others were reviewed and edited, caught up on a wee bit of emailing, set the menu for our Thanksgiving dinner next weekend, and had a couple of online meetings with different practitioners and groups.
PLUS, hubby and I went to a football game on Saturday night. I actually felt back on my game from a productivity stand point! That's it for the updates... On with the show!!

Four Leg BLOG: What the Heck is Bayesian Clinical Reasoning?
|
|
I was scrolling around looking to see what was new with the Cambridge IVDD Research Group, and I came across a study published by one of the investigators. Khan S, Freeman P. Bayesian clinical reasoning in the
first opinion approach to a dog with suspected thoracolumbar pain. J Small Anim Pract. 2022 Jun 25. https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/jsap.13528 I speculate at WHY this research group MIGHT have published such an article… but more to the point, is to answer the question I posed I the title. What the heck is Bayesian clinical reasoning? “Bayesian clinical reasoning is a way of taking into account the known pretest probability
of a disorder (based on a mix of published reviews, studies and case reports, and expert opinion), and using this information to interpret the probability of that disorder following the results of a diagnostic test. In other words, it involves using our prioritised differential diagnosis list to inform and interpret our use of the diagnostic investigations we undertake.” Essentially, this is something we do day in and day out in clinical practice (human or animal). Where was the paper going with this? Continue reading - click below...

For over a year, I worked with Physiotec (an online exercise platform) to create a exercise prescription platform for canine rehab practitioners. And this is it!
I've put hundreds of exercises together onto this handy platform. You can find the exercises, print off a handout, send them a link to the VIDEOS of the exercises. There's so much: Massage, owner-friendly joint therapies, exercises, advisement, etc, etc!
NOW... be aware that this platform is run by / owned by Physiotec (and they charge separately for it's use)... and the support for the website is via physiotec as well. The MAIN GLITCH I am finding now... is that when you e-mail or call tech-support you will NEED to LET THEM KNOW that
your question pertains to FOURLEGEXERCISE! (Otherwise, it's a bit of a schmozzle to get sorted, because they direct you to the Physiotec website vs FourLegExercise website!!!) Check it out and LET ME KNOW (what you think, your experiences, etc... so that I can report back if there are issues!)
I hope you find it useful!
Go there... Check it out!!!

Have a great week everyone!
Until next time... Cheers!
