Let's get on with the show! Got a Question? Need Answers? Need Ideas?
WELL LOOK NO FURTHER! See what the Four Leg LIBRARY of content has to offer! Or jump onto the FORUM and ask your questions... Not on the Forum yet? Go and register! Not a member yet? Why not?! Affordable & Expansive Learning to be had! What's new? Well, AS I TYPE, the junk-metal guys are here picking up and crunching the scrap metal on the ranch! Yahoo! Finally! P.S. It's a crazy process to watch! Very primal! I had a couple of days off last week and got TONS of stuff done. Funny
how the universe has already filled up what I thought would be spare moments with new 'tons of stuff' to get done!
And there is a question on the Forum that I would LOVE people to chime in on. It's in regards to over the counter / pre-fab stifle braces. Yes, custom is better. BUT, have others had any sort of successes, failures, feedback with clients using the non-custom ones? It's
really just a discussion to be had. I remember a few years ago when doing a round-table talk at the STAAR Conference about Conservative Management for Cruciate Disease, one vet brought up that the old A-Trac / Wound-wear Braces (first version that I know of, of a semi custom, but really a 100% not-supportive or 'drawer-stopping' brace) actually helped some dogs. I concurred. I had seen this / experience it as well. (This was in the time BEFORE the good custom ones.)
So, please hop on to chat about any of the over-the-counter version and what you have noted - the good, the bad, and the ugly! THANKS!
And, I have another fantastic GUEST blog for you by my friend Dr. David Lane! I enjoy his musings! So, I'm sure you will as well. So, That's it for the updates... On with the show!!

Four Leg GUEST BLOG: Suspected Iliopsoas Tendinopathy
|
|
Courtesy of Dr. David Lane, DVM, DACVSMR, CCRT of https://www.pointseastwest.com/ in British Columbia, Canada.
A 7yo FS mixed breed was referred to us for imaging due to suspected iliopsoas tendinopathy. Historically, she has demonstrated an intermittent LHL lameness, reluctance to fully use the hind end, and consistent pain on palpation of the iliopsoas tendons bilaterally. Appropriate treatment was initiated
by the referring veterinarian, but the patient took a sudden turn for the worse after being startled by another dog, and is now lame on both hind limbs.
On presentation for the day of
imaging, the iliopsoas tendons were painful bilaterally, enough that I was unable to do more than light palpation without eliciting substantial discomfort. During this appointment, the owner emphasized that often, the patient is reluctant to move at all. We proceeded to imaging, taking orthogonal radiographs of the stifles and lumbopelvic region, as well as ultrasound images of the iliopsoas tendons. A clear core lesion was found in the left iliopsoas tendon (Figure 1). Iliopsoas or psoas major pain is a common physical
examination finding, one that is almost always coupled with other symptoms of non-specific back pain.

For over a year, I worked with Physiotec (an online exercise platform) to create a exercise prescription platform for canine rehab practitioners. And this is it!
I've put hundreds of exercises together onto this handy platform. You can find the exercises, print off a handout, send them a link to the VIDEOS of the exercises. There's so much: Massage, owner-friendly joint therapies, exercises, advisement, etc, etc!
NOW... be aware that this platform is run by / owned by Physiotec (and they charge separately for it's use)... and the support for the website is via physiotec as well. The MAIN GLITCH I am finding now... is that when you e-mail or call tech-support you will NEED to LET THEM KNOW that
your question pertains to FOURLEGEXERCISE! (Otherwise, it's a bit of a schmozzle to get sorted, because they direct you to the Physiotec website vs FourLegExercise website!!!) Check it out and LET ME KNOW (what you think, your experiences, etc... so that I can report back if there are issues!)
I hope you find it useful!
Go there... Check it out!!!

Have a great week everyone!
Until next time... Cheers!
