WELL LOOK NO FURTHER! See what the Four Leg LIBRARY of content has to offer! Or jump onto the FORUM and ask your questions... Not on the Forum yet? Go and register! Not a member yet? Why not?! Affordable & Expansive Learning to be had! What's new? I'm back from lecturing down at the STAAR Conference in New Jersey. It was a fantastic time! I enjoyed reconnecting with old friends, meeting some people for the first time live and in person, and hanging out with a bunch of wonderful people! I am exhausted!
And just to update those of you that were following the "ranch drama". Yes, the hired hand has left the building! The house is pretty much cleared of debris, but it wasn't left 'clean'. He did take some built in shelves from the garage, and all lightbulbs except one!! He also left a mess where he burnt a mattress that he wasn't taking with him, and the springs and debris were left in the backyard fire pit! Oh, and I'm sure that there are
things we've not even thought about looking for! BUT, he's gone and we can move onto the next chapter... after we clean and do some moving. (To everyone asking, I am staying put in my house - nothing changes for us in that regard.) I think I will go to bed early every day this week!
So, that's it for the updates... On with the show!

Four Leg BLOG: Are Routine Radiographs Necessary for Follow Up of Dog Recovering Postoperatively from Medial Patellar Luxation?
|
|
A retrospective research study endeavored to answer this question, “Are routine radiographs necessary for follow up of dog recovering postoperatively from medial patellar
luxation (MPL)?” I find the question, the scenario, and the outcome fascinating.
A study published in Veterinary Surgery April 2023 reported on the findings of records from 10 veterinary institutions and included 825 cases in their review. They found
that at 6-weeks post-operative, “isolated radiographic abnormalities were identified in 3.3% (27/825) of dogs following MPL surgery and led to a change in recommendations in 3% (13/432) of dogs that were presented without owner or clinician concerns.” Furthermore, In the absence of owner and clinician concerns, the odds of having a change in convalescence plans were not different, whether or not isolated radiographic abnormalities were
present.

Have You Checked it Out?
|
|
For over a year, I worked with Physiotec (an online exercise platform) to create a exercise prescription platform for canine rehab practitioners. And this is it!
I've put hundreds of exercises together onto this handy platform. You can find the exercises, print off a handout, send them a link to the VIDEOS of the exercises. There's so much: Massage, owner-friendly joint therapies, exercises, advisement, etc, etc!
NOW... be aware that this platform is run by / owned by Physiotec (and they charge separately for it's use)... and the support for the website is via physiotec as well. The MAIN GLITCH I am finding now... is that when you e-mail or call tech-support you will NEED to LET THEM KNOW that your question pertains to FOURLEGEXERCISE! (Otherwise, it's a bit of
a schmozzle to get sorted, because they direct you to the Physiotec website vs FourLegExercise website!!!) Check it out and LET ME KNOW (what you think, your experiences, etc... so that I can report back if there are issues!)
I hope you find it
useful!
Go there... Check it out!!!
