Affordable & Expansive Learning to be had! What's new? I'm half way through October! I've been saying... "I just need to get through October, and then I can breathe again!" Here are the highlights so far: 1. The hired hand is gone - left the country - back to England. 2.
Two houses have been cleaned, both sons have moved, one house left to clean. 3. One (Canadian) Thanksgiving attended. And another informal dinner to represent thanksgiving and my son's birthday just this past Saturday as well. 4. Items being purchases as found and as needed for all of the houses being moved into! 5. I teach a course at the clinic this coming weekend
(Advanced Canine Rehab)... and I think I've got the dogs organized for the course. However, I still need to print paperwork. 6. I've got this week to pull together your FourLeg learning for this month... no pressure! 7. Ranch has been busy, but we shipped the calves already and pregnancy testing starts this week. Oh, and maybe I get to go on a bull buying tour the following week! (I like buying bulls!!!)
8. This time of year, I buy up pumpkins, roast them, freeze them, and make the most wonderful pumpkin soup in the winter! Gotta do that still! 9. I feel like I shouldn't even say it... but no snow so far in my part of the world, so, the garden hoses are still out and I have 4 trees left to plant! Come on weather... don't fail me now!
That's it for the updates... On with the show!

Four Leg BLOG: Canine Flexion Test for Orthopedic Joint Pain
|
|
I found an article that I wanted to dive into deeper. So, this week’s blog post takes you along that journey with me.
Effect of dog-related parameters on the flexion test outcome: A large cohort retrospective study on physiological and orthopedic pathological-related factors
History The flexion test comes from equine veterinary practice as a physical examination technique developed to determine joint health and locomotion evaluation. The flexion test (FT) is routinely performed during gait assessment, lameness evaluation and pre-purchase examinations. ... Methods The canine flexion test has routinely been used for 20 years in the referral orthopedic department of Ghent University in Belgium as part of the veterinary orthopedic examination. As such, this study is retrospective, and reports on the clinical records from all orthopedic patients presented for lameness complaints (not lame, to severe upon presentation) between 2009 and 2020. ... Results When all criterion was factored in, 1,161 patients / records met the study inclusion parameters. ... Discussion Here, I want to discuss MY thoughts – Not those from the
paper! ... Continue reading - click below...

Have You Checked it Out?
|
|
For over a year, I worked with Physiotec (an online exercise platform) to create a exercise prescription platform for canine rehab practitioners. And this is it!
I've put hundreds of exercises together onto this handy platform. You can find the exercises, print off a handout, send them a link to the VIDEOS of the exercises. There's so much: Massage, owner-friendly joint therapies, exercises, advisement, etc, etc!
NOW... be aware that this platform is run by / owned by Physiotec (and they charge separately for it's use)... and the support for the website is via physiotec as well. The MAIN GLITCH I am finding now... is that when you e-mail or call tech-support you will NEED to LET THEM KNOW that your question pertains to FOURLEGEXERCISE! (Otherwise, it's a bit of
a schmozzle to get sorted, because they direct you to the Physiotec website vs FourLegExercise website!!!) Check it out and LET ME KNOW (what you think, your experiences, etc... so that I can report back if there are issues!)
I hope you find it
useful!
Go there... Check it out!!!

Have a great week everyone! Until next time... Cheers! Laurie
