Lumbosacral Disease - Part 3 - Clinical Reasoning
And A Four Leg Rehab Minute on The Pelvic Tilt Exercise & Tail Pull Traction
The life updates:
Well, I had a few days off. I was hoping I'd get lots done... but I was wrong. Instead I got my first Covid vaccination. Call me a sheep... but I've got too much at risk to play Russian roulette on this! Anyways, it knocked me out. My arm was actually swollen... well just the deltoid. I was looking in the mirror admiring how sculpted my arm looked when I was brought by to reality by the thought, "you dummy... you don't have
sculpted arms!!!" I pushed on it, and indeed, it wasn't 'muscle', but swelling. A few days of Acetaminophen and laser did the trick! However, I felt hung over for 2 days, and exhausted for 3! All in all, I moved slow and slept more than normal. I guess I might be more run-down than I realized!
After that set back, I built two raised vegetable beds. (Okay, hubby did the building... I did the 'lasagna garden layering and bark mulch around the outsides' part.) Layering lots of stuff: shredding branches, digging up cow poop, clippings from the first mow of the law, mulch, dirt from the mole hills... it's been fun! Fingers crossed for some good plantings this year! It was glorious weather on Friday and Saturday. I was
wearing a tank top!! And then snow! Yes, snow! Ohhhh Canada...
Okay, that's about it! On with the show!

Lumbosacral Disease – Part 3 – Clinical Reasoning
|
|
I have received a number of emails since doing this series of blogs (and e-blasts) regarding lumbosacral disease. There have been some good questions that highlight the need for another blog on this topic. This time we need to talk about clinical reasoning.
Rule number 1: There is not, and there cannot be a succinct protocol to treat this condition. Sure, I could write up a list of things to do if the dog is acute, things to do if they are subacute, things for the owners to do at home, things to do in clinic. But basically, when it comes down to it, it all boils down to CLINICAL REASONING!

I've put all of my exercises (and some of yours) onto a handy platform - Physiotec! It's a wonderful online resource for delivering home exercise / advice programs.
There are HUNDREDS of exercises FOURLEGEXERCISE.COM already! You can find the exercises, print off a handout, send them a link to the VIDEOS of the exercises. There's
so much! Massage, Owner-friendly joint therapies, Exercises, Advisement, etc, etc.
NOW... be aware that this platform is run by / owned by / billed for separately, by... Physiotec... and the support for the website is via physiotec as well. The MAIN GLITCH I am finding now... is that when you e-mail or call tech-support you will NEED to LET THEM KNOW that your question pertains to
FOURLEGEXERCISE! (Otherwise, it's a bit of a schmozzle to get sorted, because they direct you to the Physiotec website vs FourLegExercise website!!!) Check it out and LET ME KNOW (what you think, your experiences, etc... so that I can report back if there are issues!)
I hope you find it useful!
GO THERE... CHECK IT OUT!
