Laser & Cortisone Injections
And A Four Leg Rehab Minute on An UWT Hack
The life updates:
Well, we finally got a bit of sunshine and heat!!! It did not go to waste! So far, the front deck has been power washed and the railings stained! Just the 'floor boards' left to go! (I did the other 2 decks last summer).
The plan is to plant the garden on Monday... as the weather should hold out!
Calving season is ALMOST over. We have about 15 to go! (Down from 394!)
And we're in another bit of a lock down... but a non-sensical lockdown. My gut says that this one might get some push back!
Okay, that's about it! On with the show!
And this week held two big events...
- My 50th Birthday!
- And I won a Medal of Distinction from the Canadian Physiotherapy Association! (so honoured to be recognized for all of my years of work in the field of Animal Physio!)

Laser & Cortisone Injections
|

The following was a question & answer on the SpectraVET Laser Discussion Group that I requested to be allowed to use on FourLeg! Thank you to Peter Jenkins (again!) for this fabulous answer!
Question: How long should I wait to laser following a local cortisone injection?
Answer:
There's a commonly-held belief that laser therapy should not be used in conjunction with, or applied at the same time as, corticosteroid injection, ingestion or topical application.
However, to my knowledge, there have been no studies specifically performed investigate the effects – detrimental or otherwise – of laser on tissues treated with corticosteroids, nor to determine a withholding or washout period.
Some studies...

I've put all of my exercises (and some of yours) onto a handy platform - Physiotec! It's a wonderful online resource for delivering home exercise / advice programs.
There are HUNDREDS of exercises FOURLEGEXERCISE.COM already! You can find the exercises, print off a handout, send them a link to the VIDEOS of the exercises. There's
so much! Massage, Owner-friendly joint therapies, Exercises, Advisement, etc, etc.
NOW... be aware that this platform is run by / owned by / billed for separately, by... Physiotec... and the support for the website is via physiotec as well. The MAIN GLITCH I am finding now... is that when you e-mail or call tech-support you will NEED to LET THEM KNOW that your question pertains to
FOURLEGEXERCISE! (Otherwise, it's a bit of a schmozzle to get sorted, because they direct you to the Physiotec website vs FourLegExercise website!!!) Check it out and LET ME KNOW (what you think, your experiences, etc... so that I can report back if there are issues!)
I hope you find it useful!
GO THERE... CHECK IT OUT!

Okay, so I had some questions about about the Forum, and I thought that I should pass on the info to everyone. - The Forum is located on the Members' side of FourLeg, so you'll need to login to find it. Then look over to the right hand column where you normally look up the content, and at the bottom, you'll find Forum. Click it!
- Now, to get on, you need to sign up with a NEW
username and password. (Password can be the same as what you you to get into the Member's area). Next time you want 'in', it should remember you.
- Pick a user name that you want displayed.
- Answer questions. Post questions.
- Sign your posts please... It's nice to reply to a person by name!
- If you
want to post a document or a picture, you can drag it into the message box or scroll down, click attachments, and then 'add files'.
- Videos... Upload to Youtube and then post the link.
- It's really cool when you sign your name, that way people can respond to you by name. :)
And get on there and engage with the community!
