Affordable & Expansive Learning to be had!
What's new?
1. Crazy busy! I have way too much on the go coming up:
- I have a meeting next Friday with one of the provincial Ministry of Agriculture
- I have other meeting too...
- We are having our Branding next Saturday - okay, actually it's just vaccination day, but it requires a lot of prep... which means
- I'm staining the deck, planning a menu, recovering the outside furniture cushions, ordering buns and buying groceries (and beer), mowing the lawn, and likely a million more things that I've not thought of yet!
- I'm working on some upcoming lectures.
- And the clinic is hopping busy still.
2. Also thank you to everyone sticking with me and enjoying the new FourLeg format and look! It really is the best bang for your buck in regards to a continuing learning resource.
So, that's it for the updates... On with the show!!

BLOG:
How is your Empathy EQ?
|
|
I read an interesting blog that took me down this rabbit hole, How Empathy Can Improve Clinical Outcomes. I’ve seen this topic before in other blog posts and human healthcare articles. So, I thought I’d share the knowledge and then go down the path of what is in the literature in regards to Veterinary Medicine that we can all benefit from?
So, here goes.
What the research tells us: “Patient satisfaction is an important patient-centered health outcome.”

City of Calgary Proposed Animal Bylaw Amendments
please respond... anyone can give feedback!
|
|
In my conversations from dog owners this past week, there are two camps when it comes to the new proposed animal bylaws in Calgary. Camp 1 is all over it, involved in the engagement process, and mad as heck. Camp 2 hasn’t heard about them at all! My hope is to help the latter group to know what the Pet Bylaw Committee is proposing and how it could impact them and their dogs!
Right off the bat, I want to say that dog bylaws are necessary. There are plenty of important aspects of animal ownership that should be regulated and enforced. That’s not the problem. The problem is the wording (or rather the lack of clear wording and the potential for biased, arbitrary, or authoritarian interpretation) of the proposed bylaws as they are currently written.
If you own a dog, if you live in Calgary, visited through Calgary, have heard of Calgary, or never want to come to Calgary... please read and take a moment to send the City of Calgary Councillors some feedback on their proposed changes. Animal Bylaws are important... which is why they NEED to get the wording right before they pass this bylaw! Please Read and Please Take Action (wherever you live!)
The deadline for responding is Monday May 31st! Please help!

For over a year, I worked with Physiotec (an online exercise platform) to create a exercise prescription platform for canine rehab practitioners. And this is it!
I've put hundreds of exercises together onto this handy platform. You can find the exercises, print off a handout, send them a link to the VIDEOS of the exercises. There's so much: Massage, owner-friendly joint therapies, exercises, advisement, etc,
etc!
NOW... be aware that this platform is run by / owned by Physiotec (and they charge separately for it's use)... and the support for the website is via physiotec as well. The MAIN GLITCH I am finding now... is that when you e-mail or call tech-support you will NEED to LET THEM KNOW that your question pertains to FOURLEGEXERCISE! (Otherwise, it's a bit of a schmozzle to get sorted, because they direct you to the
Physiotec website vs FourLegExercise website!!!) Check it out and LET ME KNOW (what you think, your experiences, etc... so that I can report back if there are issues!)
I hope you find it useful!
Go there... Check it out!!!

Have a great week everyone!
Until next time... Cheers!
