In yesterday's Freestyle Friday, I told you about Lori Winslow's new training on Using Master Slides in PowerPoint. On sale right now for $20 off with the coupon code: MASTER
The Slide Master an incredibly helpful feature to know, and a lot of people NEVER even use it!
To be clear, I wanted to give just a very brief discussion of the difference between a master slide and a template. (Because they ARE different!)
First, a template is a pre-set PowerPoint file that already has some designs build into it. A template is a starting point. It may or may not have master slides enabled and designed for it.
If you start with a template, it saves you time because you can start from something other than a bare, blank page in your PowerPoint file. You can change things to suit your needs, but you aren't starting from scratch.
You can change the individual slides in the file/presentation as you wish. And if you later decide to make changes to those slides, you will have to make those changes to each slide, just as you did to begin with.
With Slide Master, you get to control GLOBAL changes. You have one or more master slides with specific fonts, colors, layouts, backgrounds and you can change those things across ALL of the slides that are using that master.
This allows you to do multiple planners and quickly change color schemes or fonts without needed to start over from scratch or change each page in a template file.
Or say you have workbooks for your courses that you teach and you've changed your branding colors and logo. You could quickly update EVERY slide with just a few click inside the Slide Master instead of changing every individual slide.
This is a HUGE productivity boost to using PowerPoint to create your printables, planners, and workbooks, and it's just the kind of training I absolutely LOVE. It's super-practical, ultra-helpful, AND the multiple videos are all very, short and straight to the step-by-step stuff! See how short they are (times in parentheses:)
