I've been doing business online (as a full-time thing) since late 2008. It has not been all sparkles and unicorns. It hasn't even been dark quests and dragons, which I could also enjoy!
No, a lot of it has been hard work, sludging through things that felt WRONG to me, and then eventually completely burning myself out.
Before I learned about my Human Design, I was trying to do business in a way that was completely wrong for me. I was pushing too hard, trying to put myself "out there" in a way that is NOT in alignment with my Type, and in general working too hard.
Wait! What? Working too hard? But isn't that what we're supposed to do as an entrepreneur? Aren't we supposed to hustle, push through, and Get. Things. Done?
Not really. Most people are designed to wait for something. Generators and Manifesting Generators are designed to wait to respond to certain cues, and then their "gut" (their Sacral) gives them the go-ahead - or not.
Reflectors wait even longer, because they're on a lunar cycle. They do well with the mantra "slow and steady wins the race."
Projectors (like me) are designed to wait for recognition
and invitation. It is NOT in my Design to push my way into a situation. When I do, it falls flat - and yes, I know this to be true, because I've tried it both ways and I know what has and has not been beneficial to my business!
That's not to say I can't create and be ready for those invitations, but Projectors are designed to be wise guides, and we can only guide those who recognize our wisdom and invite our guidance.
Projectors are the only ones whose aura is designed to penetrate the G Center (aka the Identity Center) of others, which allows us to see deeply into the core of another individual.
If we
aren't invited, you can imagine how intrusive that penetrating energy can feel. On the flip side, because we see people so deeply and with all pretenses stripped away, it's very important that we work with only the right people. The wrong people, with the wrong energy, can completely zap us and burn us out, because we do absorb so much from our clients.
Only Manifestors are designed to "initiate" things in the way we think, and even they have different needs. They aren't the "workhorse" types who are designed to stay the course to the end. They're the Starters, not the Workers.
If you start to learn about Human Design, you start to see that we are all different for a reason. We're designed to work as a collective and each of us has our role in that collective. We each have our individual parts too, but even by being our individual self, it contributes to the big picture. We are like puzzle pieces in a great
big cosmic puzzle. When you zoom out, you see the big picture of why we can't all be and do the same things.
And when you start to understand how your energy works, and how your own collaborative piece of the cosmic
puzzle is supposed to fit, life gets easier, business gets easier, and there's a flow to things that means you don't have to push so hard.
But if you're a coach who tells people that they have to push through, then you
may be doing your clients more harm than good. If you aren't honoring the individuality of each client and how they should work DIFFERENTLY, then even if they make temporary gains, they will always fall back into stuckness.
I know. I've personally had coaches who gave me advice that didn't work for me at all. Advice that set me back instead of moving me forward.
Oh, and speaking of
advice...I struggled with some coaches in the past, because I would begin to speak of an area where I was stuck, and the advice would flow...and then I would find myself shutting down in resistance.
I thought there
was something wrong with me - that I was uncoachable, in denial, or just plain STUBBORN - when in actuality, I am literally designed to talk things out for myself. I need a sounding board more than I need advice.
(Remember that Projector wisdom I mentioned earlier? It's a lot harder for us to turn that wisdom inward, because we're designed to work with and guide others. But we CAN access our own wisdom. We just need a sounding board to do so!)
Which means that at other times, when I had coaches who would hear ME, let ME speak, and then repeat MY OWN WORDS back to me, I made much more progress.
You see, most people - regardless of their Type - have their own truth inside of them. A good coach teases that truth OUT instead of trying to INSERT their version of the right way.
Think of it this way...in a toolbox, you have a hammer, screwdrivers, wrenches, and more. What if the screwdriver was having problems with their tasks, and the hammer decided to coach them.
And then the hammer says, this is what I do, so this is how you should do it, too. You just bang on something until it goes where it needs to go.
Well you can imagine what would happen. If a
screw is treated like a nail, it gets stripped out and is no longer physically able to serve the purpose it's designed for.
Have you ever been told that as a coach you should never ask yes or no questions? Well guess
what - Generators and Manifesting Generators NEED yes or no questions for their Sacral to respond to.
Your G and MG clients have their answers right inside their bodies. As a coach,
it's your job to help them access those answers and yes or no questions is how they do that. Believe me when I say that when you see a Sacral Session, it is truly magical what happens.
My very
first Sacral Session was one I did with my sister during the breakup of her marriage. She was feeling unsure of her decision. I asked her Sacral some questions (not her mind!) and the responses poured out. She had complete clarity after only a few minutes. She told me it felt like an "unmuddling."
I never gave her ANY advice, I only asked her some yes or no questions!
Why am I telling you all of this?
Well for one thing, my Profile (different from Type, by the way) is a 3/5. That means that I am all about trial and error, exploration and experimentation, and then "universalizing" the things I've learned during my
exploration.
So when I learn about something amazing that can help you, I can't NOT tell you about it. It pours out of me.I get downright giddy over things that I find impactful!
But also, I want you to know about some unique opportunities right now.
Human Design as a practice can be whatever you want it to be.
Some people use it to do "readings" aka chart analysis. That's where you take the things you've learned and interpret them for your clients with their charts. Human Design has a LOT of layers to it, and people are always looking for a professional to help them understand their own
design.
