I don’t know about you, but I am definitely having an embodied, human experience.
So here’s an important question for your contemplation that relates directly to your everyday life: What are you listening to?
What is behind the actions you take? What is guiding you to do what you do? Where are you putting your trust?
Take a moment to reflect on these possibilities. Are you listening to:
- Other people’s opinions and expectations about you;
- Self-critical thoughts;
- Your judgments of others;
- Grudges you’re holding on to;
- Inner feelings of lack, need, and inadequacy;
- Beliefs about the world—that it’s unsafe, that you don’t belong;
- Stories about anger, shame, or fear?
And what do these thoughts lead you to do? For many of us, we spend our precious lives hiding from ourselves and others, turning away from our true potential, irritated, isolated, and just plain unhappy.
For example, if we try to meet other people’s expectations, we betray our truth. If we’re embroiled in our self-focused thinking, our hearts are closed. And if we live in our neediness and fear, we ignore our true magnificence.
If you don’t listen to these limiting thoughts, what do you listen to? How do you know how to live? Who are you?
First, consider that your thoughts are not telling you the truth. (They aren’t.)
Then get curious about what’s appearing in your experience outside your mind…the truth beyond any conditioning…full aliveness coming through you…
Then you’re connected with the inner core of your being.
Our minds will offer us distorted views of things filtered through our conditioned stories and beliefs.
But the inner knowing beyond our minds is unattached and free. It has no agenda, no limitation, no need for safety or protection.
It’s not concerned with fitting in or doing things right. And it's not afraid to make waves.
It is always speaking the truth, powered by infinite possibility.
A friend of mine knew for years that he was being guided to change jobs. Afraid of taking a risk, he ignored the pull to leave the toxic situation until he couldn’t any longer. He’s not sure what will happen now, but he’s unstuck and so much happier.
This voice of truth sometimes speaks in subtle ways, so we’re asked to open to not knowing and listen deeply. How?
- Slow down, take a breath, and find the silence within. Then notice how you’re being nudged right now in this moment. Ask:
- How does life want to move me—right now?
- What does life want me to be aware of that I've been avoiding?
- What is being asked of me?
- What is truly alive in me?
- What is the truth of this moment for me?
See how this way of being feels so much more alive than fear, judgment, and constriction? It comes through as intuition and pure fearless knowing.
I’m not inviting you to make a radical change in your whole life—unless that’s how you’re called. You can begin with small experiments.
~~Take a few hours on a weekend that you leave unplanned. Sit still and listen deeply to know how life wants to move you. Don’t question what’s offered. Just say yes, and do it.
~~Think of a burning question that is alive for you right now. Take time in silence, float the question, and open to whatever comes.
Freedom is right here—yours to be lived, loved, and celebrated—and you can know that in any moment right at the heart of your everyday human life. When you’re ready, don’t listen to the mind that ignores the truth of your infinite, loving nature.
Listen from the silence of your being…
Love to you...
