There’s so much freedom that comes when we’re aligned with the truth of not knowing.
- There’s no pressure to figure things out. You let the truth of the situation show itself to you.
- You’re not disappointed because you’re not attached to expectations about how things are supposed to be.
- You’re truly open to whatever life brings—not what you think it should bring.
Leaning into this place of not knowing, we’re less tense, more relaxed, and primed to be surprised. It’s like living in a perpetual, “Wow!” “Wow, it’s like this…oh, this is what’s happening now, this is what’s called for right now.”
We let ourselves be surprised.
When we don’t know, we’re infinitely flexible and not attached to outcomes. We might be going down a certain path, but when it changes, so do we.
We know so well how the mind complicates things, so we just don’t listen to it anymore.
This way of being in life is all-encompassing, and applies to decisions that are both trivial and seemingly important. What am I going to have for breakfast? Will I accept the job offer I just received? Am I being directed to move to a different city? What about this relationship that isn’t going so well? What’s next?
The wants and needs that the separate self thinks are so compelling are put aside, leaving space for things to be as they actually want to be.
We no longer listen to the thoughts that worry about how we're going to appear or if we'll be approved of. We're not concerned with any particular outcomes.
The power of following truth is way more important—and alive.
Experiment with taking your hands off the steering wheel and letting yourself be driven. Just try it—for one decision you’ve been pondering or for a few hours on the weekend. Or maybe for the rest of your life.
Surrender into the unfolding, and enjoy the ride.
You’ll be poised in all directions, fully receptive to whatever comes.
