10 Heartbreaking Moments
in Growing Weed
🌳💀➡😭💔

It was Summer of 2008 and, as a beginner grower, I was proud of my beautiful happy cannabis seedling in a solo cup. But I had a long weekend planned at a friend’s house. I put the seedling in a bowl of water to keep it watered while I was away and left for my trip.
That weekend was hot. The temperature soared to 98°F (37°C) but I didn’t think about my seedling at home, which happened to be in a room with no AC…
When I got home from an enjoyable weekend out of town, I saw this heartbreaking scene.
The overwatering (you should never let a plant sit directly in water!) combined with heat had almost killed my poor seedling. I almost cried (okay, maybe I did shed a few tears). Luckily, in this case, I was able to give the plant some TLC and bring it back from the dead.
Whether you’ve been growing cannabis for a while or are a total beginner, you’ll eventually face your own heartbreaking moment. Sometimes you can fix things, and sometimes you have to come to terms with losing a plant.
I decided to put a list together of 10 common heartbreaking growing events so you’re mentally prepared and won’t be too hard on yourself. This stuff happens to every grower, including me.
1.) Sudden plant death
Your plant is fine one day, and the next day it’s dead. When that happens, it hurts!
What are the main causes of plants dying?
Learn the most common causes of plant death, why buds come out wrong (plus what to do), and other frustrating grow problems!

Developing beautifully – May 6, 2022
It’s truly difficult to see the difference between the tents except that I labeled them. May 10 (just a few days) marks 3 weeks from 12/12 and is when I’ll be giving the “defoliation tent” another haircut. Then both tents will be left alone until harvest.
Buds are about the size of my thumbs and I noticed that the Wildberry plants are starting to produce bits of purple on their buds, which is pretty neat. I’ll make sure to take closeup pictures of all the buds when I defoliate in a few days. Watch out for those next week!
Mini HLG 65W LED Grow Light Tent Update
|
|
May 6 – Wow, lots of bud growth!
Buds have fattened quite a bit since the last post. I haven’t done anything but give nutrient water every few days and let the plant develop.
|
I continue to be amazed what this 65W LED grow light can do in a 3 foot (1 m) tent.
I’m pretty pleased with the trichome development so far. I initiated 12/12 about 4 weeks ago and nearly all the pistils (hairs) are still white, which means this bud is still young. But I see a few hairs starting to darken and curl in, which is a sign that the buds are maturing. Inside the bud, the plant is ramping up THC development. Buds will get steadily more potent until harvest time. Based on appearance, I’d guess we’re about 5 weeks
out from harvest.

"Thank u for all the info over the last few years."

"I've been using your site for years. [I'm] in Maryland and we are about to become a legal state. I'm going to teach people to grow by holding classes in my shop. Everyone in our state over 21 will be able to grow two plants.
It's my goal to teach 100 people to grow in the first year. I've been growing for 13 years. I've taught several people to grow over those years. The first thing I tell everyone is to head over to your site growweedeasy.com. You are truly the best! Thank you so much. I'm happy you are still here."
~Larry
That's freaking amazing. I wish you luck and I'm glad we can help teach more people to grow their own weed. 🙏` ~Sirius
"I live in Virginia and waited for 50 years, and finally can grow my own legally. I just harvested my first successful plant, and used your website for guidance throughout the process. Thank you."
~Ted
Not gonna lie, it gets m ea bit emotional when people finally get to grow in their home state. It's insane that any of us had to (or still have to) wait to grow a plant. ~Sirius

I think the descriptions of the pictures got mixed up, but here's her description of the second picture:

"This is a cross of White Widow and An Early Afghan I developed so I thought."
~Paul
First picture: Lovely! I like the angle you choose.
Second picture: I've had this happen and I think it's just a genetic abnormality that stunts the plant and causes the first growth to bunch up. Anyone else experience this? ~Sirius

Check out the trichome coverage on this bad boy! I bet Mario couldn't write a description because his hands got stuck to the keyboard. He probably used his last unstuck finger send these pics. I hope you're okay, Mario! ~Sirius

You're not fooling us, scammers!

Scammer Alert: We have detected a terrible human being
In 2022, avoiding scams is a normal part of everyday life. Scams can come at you from someone halfway around the world, or a billion dollar company that runs legitimately. These days, the best practice is to have your scam-guard up at all times even if you're just looking at it purely from a financial perspective. If something sounds to good to be true, there's a pretty good chance that it's too good to be true and you should walk
away.
Remember when it comes to buying seeds: Real seed businesses don't contact you. They let you contact them. If anyone messages you to sell you seeds on social media, look out! It's possible they will take your payment and send nothing. Always take a second to think before sending money to anyone, especially if they contact you (whether by DM, text message, phone
call, email, etc.).

- Bud Rot or Mold - If I had to make a list of the worst enemies of healthy cannabis, Bud Rot would make the top 3. Bud rot (or mold) comes at the worst possible time...towards the end of flowering. That means it tends to destroy buds that are fully
