Introduction to ScrOG (Screen of Green)

"ScrOG" has become a term used for the "Screen of Green" cannabis training technique.

The purpose behind Scrogging is to manually change the plant's natural growth patterns by putting all the buds on an even layer. This is accomplished by bringing the low stuff up (by getting screen good and low) and bringing the main cola down (by stopping it via topping), to the canopy.

The rough pics below illustrate my point.
Group A - Scrog Examples

This diagram shows the structure of a proper Scrog
Proper Scrog Diagram
These plants have all been scrogged
Group B - These are NOT Scrog!

This diagram shows the common structure of cannabis plants under screens which have not been properly scrogged.
Not a real Scrog
The following picture has a beautiful under current, but this is not a Scrog. Skeletal support at best, but again, not an example of a real Scrog.
Now to break down the main cola and get the plant growing horizontally, I suggest trying my 4-way LST and ScrOG setup method...

Quick Review: How to Get to Harvest in 10 Steps

Do You Have This Pest?
Snail or Slug Damage

Snail or Slug Damage
  • Slugs and snails tend to come out after dark and can defoliate a plant overnight!

  • The damage on leaves from slugs and snails is often mistaken for caterpillar damage, but there are some differences.

  • Often (not always) you'll see a trail of slime near the holes

  • Snail and slug mouths are big enough that you can actually see each individual bite mark. Therefore holes in leaves that are newly damaged by slugs or snails have "scalloped" edges (unlike holes from caterpillars which typically have a more smooth edge).

  • However, as time goes on the edges of the holes will turn brown and start to look more smooth, and slime trails disappear. This can make it harder to identify the pest, though it's a good sign if there are no fresh bites!
Nooooooo!!!

Sirius Fourside:

Sirius Fourside is a hobbyist grower who has gained the bulk of his experience growing in water as a medium (deep water culture, bubbleponics).

"Growing cannabis can be a relaxing hobby in and of itself, but it also saves you money and keeps you from having to deal with shady characters. Cannabis is much easier to grow than people give it credit for, and growing in water doesn't increase the difficulty much, if any. But whether you want to grow in water, coco, or a different medium, we'll show you how easy it can be!"
