Dear Fellow Grower,
In today's issue...
- Determining the right time to harvest is almost an art form. However, it's an art form that you can quickly learn with a few examples. Make sure to save this page so you can come back to it when you need to know if your plants are ready to be harvested!
- Are you a perpetual grower like us? Does the end of one harvest only signal the beginning of the next grow? Are you already thinking of new strains before you harvest your current set of plants? Then make sure you have high-quality seeds with great genetics ready for the next grow!
- As we get closer to the ens of the year, the temps start to cool in certain parts of the United States. And the arrival of cooler temperatures means something fun is coming...purple weed!

Harvest cannabis buds at the right time for the highest potency, yields, and best effects!
|
Cannabis buds can come in all shapes and sizes! Although variety is the spice of life, it can make it a little confusing to know when to harvest your buds based on how your plants look. But if you harvest when buds are ready, you’ll get the best yields and potency, so it’s a good idea to try to harvest at the right time if you can!
When buds first appear on your plant, they look like little round puffs of hair. Each bud is made up of many white hairs (“pistils”) that stick straight out.
Not Ready
Baby buds (budlets) look like a ball of white hairs. These buds have many weeks to go!
Still Not Ready
As the marijuana plant buds get closer to harvest, they thicken, and those white pistils start to darken and curl up. You’ll notice your buds are slowly getting thicker and denser. However, if you still have a lot of straight white pistils, like this bud, you know you still have a few weeks to go.
Ready to Harvest!
You’re in the weed harvest window when most of the pistils have darkened and curled in. However, sometimes it’s a little challenging to identify when buds are ready since each plant is different, and buds can look very different at harvest time. So today, I want to share lots and lots of pictures of many different cannabis buds that are ready to harvest so you can see the full gamut of variation!

It's that time again!
I LOOOVE picking new strains to grow!

Nebula and I grow weed in perpetuity. That means that when we get to harvest time, we're already thinking about the next set of plants and what genetics we want to grow. It's really exciting!
As Nebula wraps up her 16-plant, side-by-side comparison on the GWE Instagram account, we're already picking out who will be the next guests in our tent.
And even though there are more people selling seeds now than ever, we still stick with the companies who have yet to let us down.

In particular, I'm pretty excited to see how the strain below turns out. I'll let you all know!

"Hello,
I started growing at home about 7 years ago. At that time, there were so many "How To" sites that once I finished vetting out all the information, techniques and tutorials, I selected GWE as my "go to" resource for ALL growing topics.
After about 2 years, I wrote to you to "Thank You" and you were kind enough to send me a nice reply.
Well, it's been about 5 years and no matter what the latest internet craze for a specific grow technique, I always, always always find myself back at GWE for refreshers, info I've forgotten and to calibrate my actions when getting off track.
I'm starting my Croptober harvest and was cutting down 2 plants for drying today. I had a question in my head and promptly found all I needed at.................GWE of course.
So, just a hearty and heartfelt "THANK YOU". Thank you for helping me when I was a newbie, when I was an experienced hobby grower and as late as today when a general interpretation question arose. I rely on you consistently and wanted to take an opportunity to let you know.
That's all...................keep doing what you do - it's invaluable."

"Two examples of Ayahuasca Purple (one not being purple at all) almost ready for harvest late September southern Ontario. Currently curing
by the process recommended by GWE which has been so very successful in past harvests.
Germinated inside in April, outside in late May in 10 gallon pots; this so that nutrient and soil moisture are completely controlled and manipulatable.
It gives me GREAT pleasure to be able to do this without any legal repercussions as Canada freed the herb in 2018."

"Growing cannabis can be a relaxing hobby in and of itself, but it also saves you money and keeps you from having to deal with shady characters. Cannabis is much easier to grow than people give it credit for, and growing in water
doesn't increase the difficulty much, if any. But whether you want to grow in water, coco, or a different medium, we'll show you how easy it can be!"
