Issue #462 - Sunday, February 21, 2021
Dear Fellow Grower,
In today's issue...
- Your eyes are an extremely important part of your body, especially when it comes to growing cannabis. Your sight allows you to make split-second judgments about the health of your plant, or tell when it's finally ready to harvest. Since your peepers are so important, make sure to treat them like you love them! They're special and helpful, just like you!
- If you want to infuse your Sunday with something fruity, check out our picture gallery of Pineapple Chunk plants!
- Beware, this week's trophy pics are sticky...maybe too sticky? Seriously, it looks like you could touch the pictures and your hands would get sticky. I don't think they will, but I'm also not willing to try it. Let me know how it works for you! 🤣

Show Some Love for Your Eyes!

Are you growing weed indoors? I love indoor growing because you can produce epic bud quality in the privacy of your home. But it’s easy to forget something really
important…
Your eyes need protection!
Here are 3 simple steps to keep your precious eyeballs safe:
You can expose your eyes for hours at a time when taking pictures, plant training, or gazing at plants and loving them.
1.) Turn Off Grow Light (Bonus: Easier to Monitor Plant Health)
Main Idea: Turn off grow light and possibly hang a smaller light when working for extended periods. The bonus is you get to see plants in full color! This makes it much easier to notice problems and monitor plant health.
Turn off the grow light and potentially use a smaller light to see your plants clearly without straining your eyes.
Pet Owners: I love when my cat sits next to me and watches me work in the grow room, but grow lights can damage pet’s eyes so this helps them, too.
If your pet hangs out in the grow room, watch out because some dogs and cats nibble on leaves if you’re not paying attention 🙂
Some LEDs can be dimmed before working with plants

In response to this week's Pineapple Chunk trophy pic, I wanted to share Pineapple Chunk pictures we've grown and shared over the years.
|
My last Pineapple Chunk plant. 2.8 oz harvest, HLG 65 blue LED in a mini tent. Ocean Forest soil, GH Flora trio nutrients.
Been with you guys since early in your beginning. Read everything you posted, followed your rules, and became a master grower. Now I harvest 2-3 lbs of bud every 100 days. Only ever grow 4 plants at a time.
These are Pre 98 OG Bubba Kush (3) and Pineapple Chunk (1). I attribute my success to you and your newsletter. Thanks. Stay lifted. One."

Sirius grew this Pineapple Chunk in super soil under an ES300 LED grow light
"This is Pineapple Chunk from Barney’s Farm. Wouldn't look like this without your help."

"Ms. Haze and Mr. Fourside,
Just wanted to drop you a note to say thanks for all the great clear and concise information and knowledge you are providing. This is my first indoor grow and first grow since summer of 1975. I've just started flowering and your experience and information have really helped take a lot of guess work and stress out of the process.
The writing is first rate and very comprehensive. For a first time grower, you two are a god send. So far the grow has gone really well and I'm learning and enjoying every day. Thank you so very much for making that possible.
I really look forward to Sunday mornings; some good coffee, a toke or two and your newsletter.
Keep up the great work. You are an amazing asset to all of us."
~Cosmo Stardrive
Wow, what a massive compliment and super cool name. Thanks for writing in and making our day! ~Sirius

"Salut Sirius lors de ma dernière séance j'ai suivi ton conseil pour en faire un Bud le résultat était assez satisfaisant pour l'autofloraison j'ai réussi à avoir entre 70 et 80g par coup alors que dans l'écran j'arrivais à peine à atteindre 60g. Maintenant j'ai 24 plantes, j'ai sorti plus de 1700g"
Rough translation: "Hi Sirius during my last session I followed your advice to make bud. The result was quite satisfactory for autoflowering I managed to have between 70 and 80g per shot while in the screen I hardly managed to reach 60g. Now Ihave 24 plants, I brought out more than 1700g."
~Jean Christophe
From 70g to 1700g?! That's a heck of an increase. For reference, that's about 3.75 pounds! ~Sirius

"A 6 plant SCrog, Mimosa EVO. Grown under two Nanolux 315W CMH NA's in a 4x4, harvest coming this week."

"This is a Pineapple Chunk on day 53 of flower in a 3-gallon pot, 4wk veg. I trained her using Nebula’s manifold then gently laid her down under a screen before flipping to 12/12. I grew the mains towards the edges and used the side branches to fill the center."

Pineapple chunk is one of my favorite strains and Barney's Farm is quite possibly my favorite breeder. Good stuff, dude! ~Sirius
"This is Sherbedough, my first winter grow tent grow. Thanks for this site it saved me! Foxtailing after a heater went rogue mid-grow had me perplexed but the results are tasty!"
~Ernie L.
The results do indeed look tasty and you took fantastic pics. I bet that stuff made a bunch of great trim, too! ~Sirius

Sirius Fourside is a hobbyist grower who has gained the bulk of his experience growing in water as a medium (deep water culture, bubbleponics).
"Growing cannabis can be a relaxing hobby in and of itself, but it also saves you money and keeps you from having to deal with shady characters. Cannabis is much easier to grow than people give it credit for, and growing in water doesn't increase the difficulty much, if any. But whether you want to grow in water, coco, or a different medium, we'll show you how easy it can be!"
