7 Environment Effects on Bud Quality 😲💪🌳🤯
|
|
What’s the secret to unbelievable bud quality? How can a cannabis grower produce delightful yields of dense, potent, beautiful buds?
Your growing medium and nutrients are important, but bud quality is more the result of two other
things during your grow: Starting with the right strain and giving plants a great environment while buds are forming.
By the time you get to the flowering stage, the main bud quality factor under your control is the environment.
During the flowering stage…
- Environment (especially during the 2nd half of the flowering stage) majorly affects bud potency, trichome production, appearance, and smell
- Environment has a far greater effect on bud quality than the particular nutrient brand or supplements
- Flowering environment is key to bringing out the best of your genetics (especially make sure to avoid too much heat!)
Want to harness the power of the environment in your own grow? Now is the time to start! Today I’ll teach you 7 ways the environment affects buds so you can produce the absolute best harvest possible. Master these 7 factors (usually just some small adjustment to “dial in” your personal setup) and you will be amazed at how much better buds turn out at harvest.
Learn how to “dial in” your flowering stage environment to produce superior buds
Quick Summary: Ideal Flowering Stage Environment
- Temperature – 65-80°F (18-27°C)
- Humidity – 40-50% RH
- Grow Light – Bright light with far-red in the spectrum (high-UV is a bonus)
- Airflow – Fresh air and a gentle breeze
Now that you understand what you’re aiming for in a general way, let’s dive deeper into how environmental factors affect bud quality so you know exactly what to focus on.

"Phantom cookies domina by garden of green. Gelato by seedsman. Both grown in green house. I laid tarp down to prevent roots from reaching normal soil and created an organic living soil environment for plants to grow in. PCD effect is
amazing sativa euphoria and energy; smells like watermelon candy. Gelato effect is permanent smile with mild relaxation and giggles. Had a very deep creamy smell."
~Alan K.

"Bubba kush by seedsman and king tut by pyramid seeds. Bubba kush effect is phenomenal I mean old school super happy and stoned feeling with a psychedelic edge and nice body touch that ends up with you gently floating into the couch while all cares and worries
drift. Smell: oh my lord when I say hey go stick your face in a hand full of black pepper balls this is no lie my friends!!! Huge fan. The king tut yielded just under two pounds after curing for a month."
~Alchemist
You and the last trophy pic grower should team up and write a novel. You both are great at writing descriptions! ~Sirius
"Good morning from Southern Oregon. I have a polypoid growing on a plant that I thought would interest the folks old and new growers alike. I love weird mutations. She is a Tie Dye fem. photo from Paul at New420guyseeds. She is about 55 days in flower. Plant itself has been hassle free and just a blast to see this evolution of growth. Hope you enjoy her as much as me."
~SoOrbudgal
This is a terrific example of "polypoidy". I always see polypoids as weed that grew a mane. 😂 ~Sirius
"Hi I love your site. I am growing some bags seeds For the second time and I am using the manifold method what do you think here’s a pic."
~Canagirl
Looks great, fantastic even. Keep it up! 👍 ~Sirius
"Strange leaf mutation. Found a few of these on the plant."
~MissFrankie
I've seen many leaves with extra fingers, but this is the biggest extra finger I've ever seen. It really feels like this leaf is trying to send me a (rude) message. ~Sirius
Help! What's Wrong with My Plants?!
|
This was definitely a new one for me. Here's what the grower had to say:
"I've never seen this before. A new plant grew as an offshoot of a root of this plant, and instead of acting like a plant, it acted and grew like a vine. Very fast growth, about 12" between 'nodes', and the stem is sticky like a cat tongue all along its length."
Now check this out...
|
Although we can be fooled, this doesn't appear to be faked! 😱
This version has the "vine" highlighted.
So what do you think it is? Our guess is that another (possible parasitic) species snuck into this grower's tent and is living the good life. The third picture shows their leaves. We'd love to know what this is, but in either case, the
solution is to get rid of it ASAP. ~Sirius

"Growing cannabis can be a relaxing hobby in and of itself, but it also saves you money and keeps you from having to deal with shady characters. Cannabis is much easier to grow than people give it credit for, and growing in water doesn't increase the difficulty much, if any.
