How Can I Make Edible Hash Oil?
by Nebula Haze

Also called Rick Simpson Oil (RSO), Phoenix Tears, Hemp Oil (not hempseed oil), Pure Cannabis Extract, Concentrated Cannabis Tincture, High-CBD Cannabis Oil, High-THC Cannabis Oil or Edible Hash Oil

Making edible cannabis hash oil is an easy and safe way to extract the "good stuff" from medicinal cannabis.

This concentrated form of cannabis may provide relief for some patients with cancer, epilepsy , chronic pain, arthritis, joint pain, fibromyalgia, nausea from chemotherapy, lack of appetite, muscle spasms, insomnia, asthma, Crohn's Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Neuropathic Pain, Osteoporosis, PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder), Parkinson's, Hodgkin's Lymphoma and other medical conditions.

This tutorial will show you how to create a concentrated extract of cannabis. While this extract is known as an "oil" since it is made up of the resin and oil naturally found on the buds and leaves of a mature cannabis plant, the consistency is very thick, and therefore this "oil" is almost completely solid.

Can I Legally Purchase Edible Cannabis Extract Oil On the Internet?

What makes this an "edible" cannabis hash oil?

  • Eat just one drop of pure edible hash oil (the size of a grain of rice) per day. To start, you should start with an amount equal to 1/2 the size a grain of rice - you will likely need to work up to the full amount if you are not familiar with edible cannabis extracts as this extract is very powerful

  • Some very sick patients have reported eating as much as 3 drops per day (spaced out in intervals), but when using pure cannabis hash oil, this amount is far too much for the average person

Cannabis hash oil which has been extracted this way should never be smoked or vaped! Do not "dab" this hash oil. This type of hash oil should only be eaten, or applied topically to the skin (because the hash oil is naturally very thick, it can be mixed with other oils to make application to skin easier).

Do Not Smoke or Vaporize Edible Cannabis Hash Oil

Advantages of Making Your Own Edible Hash Oil

  1. Quality Control - You choose which strain is used to make your medicine (Indica vs Sativa, THC & CBD ratios, etc ). You have 100% control over the creation process, so you know exactly what goes into your medicine.

  2. Can be eaten or applied directly to the skin - Rick Simpson Oil is edible and can also be applied topically (for things like burns, localized pain and/or moles), which makes it a great way to get the benefits of cannabis without the downsides of smoking.

  3. Can Be Produced at Relatively Low Cost - Edible hash oil can be made from inexpensive cannabis sources like home-grown medical cannabis buds or "trim." Trim is a name for the leaves and stems that are left over after harvest of cannabis buds. The cannabinoids which make cannabis buds effective as medicine are present in smaller amounts on the trim, yet many growers throw the trim away because it is not suitable for smoking. The process of creating edible hash oil (as explained on this page) is effective at concentrating these cannabinoids into usable medicine. Therefore, growers can turn their trim into edible hash oil instead of throwing all the leaves and stems away, which means these growers are getting more medicine from each harvest. If you live in an area where cannabis is legal, you may be able to find a grower who will give or cheaply sell you their trim. Many medical cannabis patients also choose to grow their own cannabis. A little effort can save you a lot of money.

  4. Ingredients - Most cannabis edibles contain other ingredients (like sugar) that the patient may wish to not consume. Consuming a pure cannabis extract (like the one produced in this tutorial) will give patients just the cannabinoids without any "extras."

I know all the benefits, but I'm not sure if I'm ready to make edible cannabis hash oil... What's an easier way to make a (less potent but still effective) cannabis extract or butter?

"Growing cannabis is a relaxing hobby in and of itself, but it also saves you money and keeps you from having to deal with shady characters. Cannabis is much easier to grow than people give it credit for, and growing in water doesn't increase the difficulty much, if any. But whether you want to grow in water, perlite, or a different medium, we'll show you how easy it can be!"
Quick Guide to Cannabis Concentrates

It can get confusing, so I hope this guide helps!

Traditional hash is made from kief which is the heads of the resin glands called trichomes. It can be produced by rubbing cannabis over a dry screen, or with filter bags and ice water, called water hash or bubble hash.

BHO is butane hash oil or some people call it honey oil. This process uses butane as a solvent instead of alcohol, and like Rick Simpson oil, the essential cannabis oil is stripped from plant matter and then reduced into a concentrated form for a potent result.

Wax is a form of BHO, its consistency is like wax instead of like a sticky oil. There is also a form called shatter which is more transparent amber colored and hard, more like rock candy.

Shatter - A very high-potency cannabis concentrate - similar to wax, but hard and brittle like candy - usually amber colored.

Hash oil can be made with several other solvents like high proof drinking alcohol or isopropyl alcohol, etc. The edible hash oil produced in this article is a type of hash oil made with Everclear.

Edibles & Cannabis Butter - Usually the cannabis is extracted into an oil or fat (like cannabis butter), then either eaten alone, or cooked into a recipe.

Hash can be smoked but most of the oils melt so unless you put it on a bowl, most people use what is called an oil rig to "dab" it from a heated titanitum skillet or pad and draw the vapor into a small bong or bubbler. The nail or skillet can also be glass or quartz.

Just search for dabs of wax or dabs of shatter on youtube to see.

Generally BHO and other oils will be more potent than regular hash. 70-90% THC instead of 40-50% in regular hash.

Unless the process of making the extract or concentrate has involved heat, you will need to heat up these extractions before eating to "activate" (decarboxylate) the cannabinoids for some of the effects, especially the pain-relieving and anti-nausea effects.

You can still get some of the beneficial health effects even without decarboxylation, but it won't affect your mental state until heated up to turn the THC-A into the active form we're familiar with, THC.

Vaporizers for Medical Cannabis?

Are there other medical ways to ingest cannabis?

In addition to eating hash oil, there are other ways to get the medical benefits of cannabis without the need for smoking.

One of the most common ways to ingest medical cannabis quickly, without smoking, is using the process known as "vaporizing."

Learn about the Arizer Extreme Q Vaporizer

Why is vaporizing a good choice for medical cannabis patients?

Vaporizing cannabis gives you many of the effects and benefits of smoking or eating cannabis, yet it doesn't produce smoke to possibly hurt your lungs, and the effects work much quicker than edibles.

Learn about 2 of the most popular vaporizers on the market today!

Vaporizers offer a way to get many of the benefits of smoked medical cannabis, but they vaporize the cannabinoids and there is no combustion or fire - which is much healthier for your lungs!
