In New York City, the change in seasons has been late this year. The trees have started their glorious transformation from green to yellow, orange and red.
 
Similarly, it’s a good time for you to think about how you'll change your social media and content marketing for 2015.


Since I'm teaching an advanced social media workshop at Internet Summit in Raleigh, NC, on November 11th, I’ve been thinking about how to improve social media marketing. Based on my corporate experience and that of my clients, I know that often means doing more with the same resources.

At a minimum, make sure you’re competitive with your peers and close substitutes.
  • Roughly 89% of businesses use social media according to eMarketer.

  • B2B firms use an average of 6 social media platforms and B2C firms use an average of 7 social media platforms, based on Content Marketing Institute and MarketingProfs 2015 research.

Before you start your 2015 social media marketing plans, assess:
  • What you’re currently doing on social media. Determine which social media platforms and tactics are working and which aren’t.

  • Who is taking care of your social media activity and related content.

  • How much your social media efforts cost including personnel time and creative.

  • Check what your competitors are doing on social media.
