actionable marketing guide

Dear ,

I’m about to leave for Social Media Marketing World in San Diego. I’m so excited to attend for the first time. (Dare I admit it???)

I’ve been looking forward to this opportunity. It’s so great to have everyone involved in social media in one place. I get to see my old pals and to meet some social media colleagues that I’ve never met IRL.

If you’re attending, please let me know. (If not, you may want to consider getting the virtual version of SMMW so that you can get all of the quality education without the travel cost.)

This week, we’re giving away a copy of Gini Dietrich’s Spin Sucks to one lucky winner with a US postal address. Please understand that while we appreciate that our readers are located around the world, we’re only able to send physical books to people with a US address.

We encourage you to sign up to get related goodies even if you don’t have a US postal address.

The winner of a print edition of Arnie Kuenn' Content Marketing Works is Sello Richard Mpharoe. Congratulations Sello!

Since we’re behind in getting our related goodies from the authors out, we’re offering them to everyone on our weekly email newsletter list. But act now as this link will only be valid for one week.
Going forward there will be new interviews every Saturday. If you’re a marketing author or represent an author and would like to participate, please drop us a line.

We’d like your feedback on the section and the types of questions you’d like us to ask authors.

Happy marketing,
Heidi

The #1 Media Lesson Content Marketers Must Learn

Media Secret: Why Your Content Does Not Drive Sales

Roughly 90% of businesses, both B2B and B2C use content marketing. They heed the words, “Every marketer is a publisher.” (BTW—I wrote this article for ClickZ back in 2006.)

Yet, if you’re like most content marketers, you’re focused on creating as much content as possible as part of your content marketing strategy. In the process, you may be missing the key business lesson at the heart of every media entity. Continue reading

How To Launch A Successful Business Blog

My Boss Said Yes To The Blog: What Do I Do Now?

For many brides, selecting their wedding dress is the key to their plans for the big day. It’s so big that there’s a television reality show called, “Say Yes To The Dress.” Your business blog is the wedding dress of your organization’s content marketing strategy.

I never got the wedding dress hoopla until I bought mine. Being practical, I figured a nice cocktail dress would be fine and save me a bundle of money. But wedding dresses like blogs aren’t about being practical. They’re about your heart and soul. Continue reading

Social Media Editorial Calendar: 5 Key Elements

What’s your best piece of advice for readers looking to improve their marketing and why is it so important?

Just one piece of advice?! I’m going to combine two pieces of advice: Read everything you can (I mean everything) on marketing, how it’s changing, and what you can do about it. And then use that knowledge to test, test, test.

There isn’t a one-sized fits all when it comes to marketing. Your clients are different than mine so, while my case study may be helpful in thinking through strategy and execution, you’ll still have to test different variables, such as timing, distribution, content types, and more. Continue reading
