Words can’t express the depth of sorrow and solidarity we feel for and with you.

Having been in New York City on 9/11/2001, I know the numbness and grieving that follows such an incident. After the World Trade Centers came down, New York, a vibrant city known for its noise, wore a shroud of eerie silence.

But 9/11 allowed New Yorkers to show their caring strength to help others and rebuild their town.

On my block, a woman I never knew was among those lost in one of the World Trade Center towers. Yet every year on 9/11 there’s a makeshift memorial outside her building and I think of her.

While your world won’t be the same again, you’ll go on. I have faith that you’ll show the world that terrorists can’t stop life in one of its most treasured cities.
