actionable marketing guide

Dear ,

Happy Easter to those of you who celebrate the holiday! In New York, we’ve got bright spring sunshine mixed with blustery winds.  They cause a drop in temperature that lets you know winter’s still here.

While Easter and Passover generally occur near each other, this year they’re a month apart. Depending on your audience, this may have implications for your marketing messaging.

Having clear communications is key to a successful marketing implementation. It’s a topic I’ve been thinking about a lot as I create and practice my Social Media Marketing World presentation.

As a professor and content creator, I used to think that being comprehensive was critical. I focused on offering the full dinner menu of information to my audience, whether it was students or readers.

Yet over time I’ve learned that my audience needs to get their information nourishment without getting a stomachache from overeating.

I should know this. When my husband and I eat out, we share an appetizer and have our own main courses because restaurants tend to serve more food that we eat at home.

Similarly, it’s not the amount of information you convey but how easily it can be consumed and remember that matters.
Therefore, my Social Media Marketing World workshop, How To Create Quality Blog Posts Quickly and Consistently evolved from a rich sauce-laden main course to an easy-to-consume 4 course meal with distinct tastes.

The result:
  • Attendees will get a set of 4 interrelated skills to build their blog with quality content. (BTW: These skills can easily be applied to your content marketing plan as a whole!)
The best part of creating this SMMW workshop is that I’ve found renewed joy in writing and content creation. (I’m sure you knew I’d return to my Easter theme!)

Ideas seem to flood my consciousness while my writing flows better and quicker. I can sit down and write a TFUD (The First Ugly Draft) of a blog post in about an hour.

The periods of wandering in the writing desert seeking the next collection of ideas to string together have been replaced by an on-going flow of material. (Okay I couldn’t omit the Passover reference!)

If you’re going to be at Social Media Marketing World 2016, please sign up for my workshop on Sunday, April 17th at 3:00pm. (Note: Registration for the workshop is needed to ensure that you get a seat! There’s no extra fee.)

If you can’t join me in San Diego, then get the Virtual SMMW. It’s the complete buffet without the travel expenses.

This week, I interviewed Tim Sanders. His latest book, Dealstorming, has been described as “a Swiss Army knife for today’s toughest sales challenges.”

One lucky subscriber will be randomly picked to receive a free copy of Dealstorming. Deadline for new entries is April 2. See the Book Giveaway page for details.

And check out Tim's previous best-seller, Life Is the Killer App.

Last week, I interviewd Dave Kerpen and discussed his latest book, The Art of People. Dave has distilled the art of social business to 11 simple people skills that will get you everything you want.

We picked one lucky subscriber who'll  receive a free copy of The Art of People. It's Debra Jones. Congratulations, Debra!

Also, check out Dave's revised and expanded edition of Likeable Social Media, a New York Times and USA Today bestseller!
Happy marketing,
Heidi
