Hello, my friend!
What are you paying attention to?
This is quite the question. It can stop us in our tracks as we are often not consciously
directing our attention. The shiny things can play havoc with our attention if we are not centered in our focus.
Attention and focus construct our experiences. They shape our
lives.
When we interact with our horses, we have so many choices of where to direct our attention.
We could notice and focus on what our horse does correctly, where they need support, or what they did wrong.
I’m sure you caught that the first two would bring about a positive perspective that would
build the trust with our horses. The third……..We won’t focus on that one.
If we get the opportunity to redirect your attention, no big deal. Being disappointed or
beating ourselves up is not helpful. It will not be the magic fairy dust that inspires us to try again and reach for more. We will be more helpful to ourselves if we notice our attention has slipped and realign it.
Like we do with our horses.
Where our attention goes, energy flows.
Choose wisely.
You’ve got this.
Before I go....I've got the book Peak Mind by Amishi P. Jha, PhD in my que. If
you've read it, let me know what you thought. I heard part of her podcast with Brene Brown and was pretty intrigued. It focuses on focus.
Sending you support and encouragement,
Kim and the Hidden Promise herd
P.S. If you'd like to talk about how the herd and I could help you reach a goal you're not
connecting with, reply to this email.
