Is there a plant that evokes a memory for you every time you see or smell it?
Ground Ivy is one such plant for me.
The scent brings me back to my childhood, visiting my paternal grandmother's house.
My grandmother's yard was covered in it and every time we walked through the yard, the pungent scent was released.
My grandmother
didn't do much with it other than pull it and put it on her burn pile when it encroached into her garden but that scent forever brings me back to playing at her house as a child.
My inner child adores Ground Ivy and my adult self appreciates this plant for its many virtues.
This common Mint family yard plant is packed with many medicinal uses, including binding with heavy metals (including lead) to help with the removal in our bodies, tinnitis, congestion,
conjunctivitis, and a variety of respiratory ailments, just to name a few.
If you have access to this plant, you have a treasure of herbal medicine available at your fingertips and I highly recommend you taking time to get to know if if you haven't already.
