One of my childhood heroes was legendary wrestler and coach Dan Gable. Dan is known for a lot of famous quotes, but my favorite is this: "If it is important, do it every day. If it's not important, don't do it all." Now, of course, we can take this too literally. But, in the realm of fitness, it holds up.
Fitness is not rocket science. Trust me, I've had too much success in this industry for that to be
true. However, it's not the difficulty in the subject matter that trips people up. Most of us know what we must do to get into better shape. If information is all we need, everyone would be fit. Success is doing the boring and mundane things every day. The secret lies in the execution.
So, how do we execute? We start small. We start simple. And we do it every day.
Before getting into the list, we must recognize that consistently executing these five simple
tasks will not be easy. You will not hit every target. There will be days you miss. That is okay. The key is not batting 1000; it's striving for continuous improvement.
The 5 Daily Habits:
- Walk 8-10k steps.
- Eat 5 servings of fruits or vegetables.
- Sleep 7 hours.
- Eat protein at every meal.
