Throughout the year we have a tendency to forget about the Spirit of the holidays and pay more attention to the mainstream TV news than we do to all the helpful things we do for one another. We often forget that for every ugly news incident there are a thousand untold stories of kind, caring people who truly want to make things better for others, people who hold the holiday Spirit long after the holidays are over,

That said, at this holiday time of year and beyond, let us redouble our efforts to recognize and appreciate the vast majority of people who really care about their fellow travelers - the driver who slows down and lets us pull out in front of him or her; the man who goes out of his way to open the door for a stranger; the off-duty nurse who peeks her head into the hospital room door for no other reason than to bring a bit of cheer to an ailing child; the firemen and policewomen who risk their lives daily so others may live; the nameless giver who shares a few dollars with the homeless person on the street corner.

Let us acknowledge the teachers, the doctors and nurses, the construction workers, the shopkeepers, the farmers, the average people like you and me who rise early and drive, often long distances, so that we can all enjoy the services and merchandise they provide for us. And let us learn to overlook the isolated TV news segments and begin to dwell only on the good that people do for each other everyday. In this way we make the highest and best use of our attention and intention. Indeed, what we're putting our attention and intention on is what we're becoming.

Accordingly, we see a world where the instances of good that we do for one another far outnumber and outweigh the TV news hypes. So much so that the TV news is a thing of the past because our entire world has been transformed into a place where everyone of us, including the news and media people, are sharing, helping and loving one another all year long.
