Hi All,
I've been reading
4000 Weeks, Time Management for Mortals by Oliver Burkeman. My husband thinks the book is a crock of #$%^, my daughter and my best friends weren't impressed either. But, that didn't deter me.
The book's premise is that we have roughly 4,000 weeks on earth. That equals approximately 77 years. If that seems low, the CDC just released the U.S. life expectancy data for 2021 and it is 76.1 years.
Clearly, we all feel like there's not enough time. And when you look at our potential lifespan in weeks, our lives are absurdly short. One of Burkeman's suggestions is to embrace the reality that you won't get everything done, so don't expect that you'll finish everything you intend to do.
burkeman iterates that nearly all of us have only about three to four hours of actual productivity per day, so don't expect more.
I'm on a journey to be more forgiving of my growing list of incomplete goals, projects and to do lists.
Now, this doesn't mean we should simply "Give up." But, maybe concentrate on one or two things that are important, and just forget about the rest.
It also doesn't mean we should forget about trying to be productive. Just be thoughtful about what you truly want to spend your time on.
