I've got
a busy day today as I get ready to head to Creatures, Crimes and Creatives (C3) in Maryland. The last time I was at this event, it was a blast. A lot of people attend, and yet it has an intimate feel to it. Like we're all buddies getting together. There are no author egos or a sense that someone is unapproachable. Of course, a lot of booze is served and perhaps that's why everyone is always friendly.
Â
I'll be moderating a panel at C3 on humor in fiction and I'm a little nervous about it. A panel about humor suggests I need to be funny. But I've decided that I don't need to be funny; my panelists do. 🤣
Â
I love going to reader and writer events. I get energized and inspired. I especially enjoy it when my mom and sister come with me. We're a party wherever we go. I expect this time will be no different.

What gets you energized and inspired in your life?

Happy dance! I've received an offer from Tantor to publish the entire Southern Heat series in audiobook. I'm excited about this. I just hope that they use the right level of southern accent in the books. Some people don't realize that the southern accent varies by region. In central Virginia (where these books
take place), the accent is softer than in southwest Virginia or further south.Â

I mentioned last week that Risk It All (Delecoeur book 1) is out of KU, and you can read it free over at Wattpad. I've also started posting the Delecoeur's second book, Endangered, at Wattpad. I hope you'll stop by and read them. You can now leave comments about the sections of stories, as well as at the end of chapters.Â

National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) is coming and after taking a poll in the Facebook Sweetharte reader group, it looks like I'll be writing a Bewitched-Style sleuthing couple (a new Valentine book came in second). I envision this book being fun and quirky like the Sophie Parker mysteries, but with the romance (including intimate bits) like in the Valentine and
Delecoeur books. What are your thoughts on this?
Â
I've so far come up with a general idea and a few character names. For my witch, I think I'll go with Anastasia North (as in the Good Witch of the North, although I might do West... she can reclaim it from the wicked witch). I'm having more trouble
with my straitlaced Darrin type. I want his last name to be Powers, but I'm struggling with his first name. I want it to be strong, but also suggest his squareness or seriousness, like Darrin. So far I have Gavin, Gabe, Richard (R.J. as a nickname), and Theo.Â
Â
Do you have any
suggestions?
