Hey Jets Fans,

Well last week was a great way to open the season. A terrific win for our boys in green at home along with an awesome defeat of the hated Cheatriots. It was also an awesome day at the Fan Club with a packed house, a bunch of new Fan Club Rookie’s in the room and lot’s of reunions of long time members after the long off season. Peabody’s was packed last week and I expect more of the same this week.

Just how packed was it… get a load of this:

2014 - Week 1 Group Shot of the New York Jets Fan Club of Tampa BayOver 110 awesome Jets Fans are in this photo and others were in the room but camera shy.  A big thank you to Bobbee Broderick of BB Photography for snapping another great group shot (and dropping his drawers in the process…don’t ask, you had to be there).  You can check out all the pics Bobbee took by visiting his website. Please think of Bobbee and give him a call if you need a photographer for your next event.

Earl Christy in the House

sp8_0443Jets Super Bowl III  Champion Earl Christy came out to join us for the game and gave a rousing speech before kickoff.  It’s always great to see Earl at the games and I expect to see him regularly throughout the year.

Be sure to tune into his radio show “The Earl Christy Sports Show” every Saturday at 1pm on 1110am WTIS.  The call in number is 855-265-2929.  Visit his page at the station to listen live or to hear all past shows. You can also check out his interview last month with his teammate, the one and only Joe Namath by clicking below.

Joe comes in at the 43 minute mark.

Game 2 News

This Sunday our J-E-T-S, JETS, JETS, JETS take on the Green Bay Packers.  This will be a tough one as they are at legendary Lambeau Field and going up against a good team in the Packers.  Thankfully it won’t be an ice bowl game.  Gino and the offense looked good last week and will look to pick apart the Packers defense.  Our Jets D looked good as well and will need to be all over Packer QB Aaron Rodgers to keep him rattled.  Should be a great game and I expect to see another FULL HOUSE at Peabody’s.

Jets vs Packers

Speaking of a full house at Peabody’s last week was Standing Room Only and we are expecting another big crowd this week as well.  The room was filled with a bunch of Rookie Club members that are sure to be returning and as always will be jam packed with club regulars. However as this is an afternoon game, there will be people in seats for the early games until our Jets hit the big screen at 4:25pm.  The best way to assure yourself a seat is to get there early and be prepared to stand around until folks from the first game vacate the premises.

Last weeks 50/50 raffle winner walked away with over $225 in their pocket. This weeks raffle should also be close to that number and will not only feature that cash but also some great Jets merchandise, a gift card from Peabody’s, and a choice of a free Jets Tattoo or $50 cash courtesy of club member Rickie Merrick of Studio 54 Tattoo.

I’m really looking forward to seeing everyone come out and root for our JETS again this week and to seeing some old friends who couldn’t make it out last week.

Save the Date – Fan Club’s 10th Anniversary Party

Finally, I just want to mention that this year the New York Jets Fan Club of Tampa Bay is celebrating it’s 10th year in existence. Man I can’t believe it’s been ten years. The club was formed back on December 12th, 2004 with an original 17 people and has now grown to over 625 members around the world.  We plan on doing something special to celebrate the momentous occasion and the date that’s been selected is Sunday December 14th, 2014 as the Jets take on the Titans at 4:05.  The Party will likely start around noon and should run straight through until after the game ends.

If anyone has any ideas or would like to contribute to the festivities somehow, please send me a message ASAP.

That’s all for now folks.

See you at P’s!

J-E-T-S, JETS, JETS, JETS!!!

About Festa

My given name may be Steve but my friends have been calling me Festa for the last 30 years. While I really miss going to all the JETS home games and tailgating with a large group of friends, it’s really great being here in Tampa around other JETS fans while we root for our team. When I founded the fan club in October of 2004 I never imagined it would become as massive as it now has with over 600 members from around the world and sister Fan Club Chapters in 4 other Florida cities and growing.
