Hey ,
there's bravery in mistakes.
Getting it wrong, picking yourself up and doing it all over again takes guts.
It takes action and it takes a positive attitude to continue.
Take learning barre chords for example.
You've got a few open chords under your belt, why should barre chords be any different?
You go at them and they take ages to put down, they contort your hands and ultimately they sound horrible.
You make them again... and the same happens.
Barre chords take entirely new hand muscles to open chords.
And a new thumb position.
There is a LOT of physicality involved that can take months to develop.
So what do you do?
First of all give yourself permission to fail.
It's fine to get them wrong, as long as you keep trying.
Understand that in the beginning everyone sucks at barre chords!
5 to 7 minutes in every practice is enough. But regular and preferably play them within a song.
Once you get bored of that song move onto another one.
But keep choosing songs that have barre chords in.
It's the only way you're going to improve at them.
I have list of barre chord songs over at LGIL:
Start the journey now. Don't put it off.
Learning to play guitar without barre chords is like writing a book without knowing half of the letters in the alphabet.
Keep on playing,
Drue James
