I'm not ashamed
|
Hey ,
this week my lesson had a surprising turn of events.
It started like every other one to one video lesson.
"How are you?" "What's been happening?" etc..
And then my student (Geoff) stopped me in my tracks by saying this...
"As you know, 6 years ago my wife passed away and I never thought I'd be happy again."
"But last week was the happiest I've felt in a long time so thank you so much. You've changed my life."
Geoff was referring to the LGIL Guitar Retreat (4 nights and days away playing and sharing all things guitar) that I hosted in April.
I was stunned.
I'm not ashamed to say that I did well up and hold back a tear or two.
I was trying to stay professional, but this really touched me.
And it's made me realise more than ever that these guitar meet ups are essential and something that I have to do more of.
I've done all manner of virtual teaching! And I do love it.
But face to face, with like minded students who are all enjoying themselves, sharing, learning together and bonding.
That's been the biggest buzz I've had in a long time!
So thank you Geoff and thank you to everyone who learns from my lessons all around the world.
Keep on playing,
Drue James
