I stagnate |
Hey , in moments of stillness the most obvious solutions appear. And you're left thinking... This is exactly what I need to do. I asked myself why I wasn't playing more guitar and it suddenly became very clear to me. I thrive when I'm sharing songs in front of an
audience. That's my set ablaze with passion moment. My overall fulfilment as a musician. Closely followed by seeing my students (online or not) having those "learning breakthrough moments" And without these motivations, I stagnate. I get lost in all the little details such as when is the right time to play again or what songs should I choose...
etc... When it's all very simple. If everyday I put a little effort into either playing for others or preparing for live shows, then I'm unstoppable. It's important that if you have lost your way with practice that you discover your one true motivation for wanting to play guitar. It's different for everyone, but once you discover everything else fits into
place. Some common motivations are: Sheer relaxation Playing in a group/with others Continuous sense of achievement Entertaining other people It's ok for your main motivations to change as time goes by. I can hand on my heart say that I've been motivated by all 4 of the reasons above at varying degrees. Whatever your true motivation
is honour and accept it. Keep on playing,
