Waiting at A&E |
Angels in uniform. Self sacrificing souls who bring a smile to all that they meet. In the face of such adversity. Constant strain. Yet still they shine. And this is perhaps the most admirable characteristic about the human
spirit. The ability to heal and cure, not just through actions but through caring and genuine human connections. And to do all this when you're not getting supported. When you're overworked and the hospital is full. Some patients have a look of "I shouldn't be here", "Why has this happened to me?" Which is of course understandable, the fear, the uncertainty of their life
situation. We've all been there. But certain doctors, nurses and porters have a way of reassuring, cracking jokes and bringing a positive and deeply caring nature to their work. I watch them in awe. Lucy took a turn after contacting Covid and we were instructed by our doctor to go to A&E. I'm happy to say she was discharged that day and she's slowly
getting better. I know this email has nothing to do with guitar. And for that I hope you forgive me. But I knew I wanted to share this hospital experience with you. It felt important to remind myself that there are wonderful souls in this world that aren't "living their best life on Instagram" They are to all intense of purposes considered normal and unremarkable by
society. But absolutely nothing is unremarkable about what they do for others. Shining a light in the most uncertain of situations. I aspire to that level of generosity in such demanding circumstances. This is the message I wanted to share. Keep on playing,
Drue James
