Hey , tacky, political and irksome. In the UK we have an expression that some things in life are like "Marmite". You either love it or you hate it. Marmite by the way is a yeast spread that is thick and tar like. It's mega salty! And I've never made this comparison
before... But the Eurovision Song Contest is like Marmite. Sure, it's brash, the songs are often ridiculous or grossly predictable. In many ways it's a carnival of tack! But still... I absolutely love it. And there's 2 reason for that: 1: In a world that often feels grossly divided by thoughts and ideas on "how the world should be, I'm right and your wrong
attitudes" it's great to have an event that unifies. For one night of the year people from all over the world watch the same songs at the same time and feel the same things. Awesome and wonderfully unifying. 2: The most bizarre and off the wall things happen in Eurovision. Although it's televised and certain boundaries can't be crossed I love the freedom of expression the performer get. And they most certainly use
it! In our household we do Eurovision "Guess The Song Lyric". We each write down 3 words that we predict we'll hear in any one of the songs. Every year I go for "Heart, Love and Dance" Most years I get all 3. If you match all 3 you get a prize! (Normally another glass of Prosecco!) I embrace the wackiness, stomach the cheesiness and ignore the obvious political nature of the scoring by
some countries. By doing this Eurovision is an event that brings laughter and joy to our household. My name's Drue and I'm a fan of Eurovision. There I said it! Keep on playing and have a musical weekend, Drue James www.LearnGuitarInLondon.com Not a Premium Member yet? Learn more and join the
