Hey , I've been having counselling for the last 3 months. And it's taken me some guts to tell you that. I had my last session yesterday. As you know, I'm not one for holding back my personal life to you. But this one is going a little further. I wanted to start counselling after my
Dad died but it never felt like the right time. And to be honest with you I was scared about what might come out. My conscious and unconscious thoughts, feelings and motivations. Stuff that has always been there, but I've never shone a light into before. No darkness can survive long when it's been exposed to the light. My personal experience with
counselling is that it's helped me understand, make peace with and in some cases remove the darkness. Guitar, music and writing words has always been my expression. It could be called an escape. But it's process has always been therapeutic. Learning and playing guitar has always improved my mental health. Music is of course a therapy within
itself. Another communication and expression medium that has the ability to highlight dysfunction or just cover it up for a while with a great sing along chorus. I'm in a lighter place now. A place of improved understanding of myself. "Know thyself" was inscribed upon the Temple of Apollo in ancient Greece over 2000 years ago.
Keep on playing,
