I'm sick |
Hey , it's a challenge to write to you this week as I've picked up a virus from my kids. I'm ok, I just feel a little out of body. I want to talk about songs. Songs are the main reason we started learning guitar. That romantic image of pulling out your
acoustic guitar and playing a few songs for anyone who wants to listen. As the years pass we can pick up many songs. My tip is to write them ALL down. It's so easy for songs we've learnt to fall through the cracks. We spend all that time learning them and then that's it! They're gone! They deserve better. Write a list of your absolute favourites that you've played to
death. This is List A. These are those songs that always make you feel good to play and don't require too much effort on your part. With List B include the songs that you never finished. Maybe these songs will work up to List A, but they will need revisiting. Finally in List C are the songs you're learning now. Having a catalogue of songs like this is
empowering. It only takes 30 minutes or so to do and you can then refer to these songs throughout your practice. Include this song list at the front of your music. Have it in place on your music stand. Somewhere you can see it. This list will always be changing so keep a digital copy for easy of edit. How many songs do you have on all 3 lists? Send me a reply and
let me know. Keep on playing,
