Hey , as I found out this week it's never too late to surprise yourself. When I was 10 my Dad let me have my first half pint of shandy and I remember singing Rudolf The Red Nosed Reindeer in the car. I've been singing ever since I can remember. I sing for enjoyment and it's great
for maintaining my mental health. Recently I've learnt to sing with my own authentic voice. I know this sounds strange but when we sing it's easy to sing like other people. I'm reminded of a story by a music producer who worked with an artist who loved Roy Orbison. This artist loved "The Big O" so much that he sang just like him. When he came to record his
singing the producer couldn't understand why he sang with this deliberate short echo to his voice. The artist had even mimicked Orbison's vocal production!!! But the reason why good singers are recognisable is because they have their own voice. They are not imitating or trying too hard. I love singing so much I have "over sung" in the past just because I can! It's easily done.
It's like saying to a kid that loves ice cream, "stop eating that you'll make yourself sick!" I'm learning that just because you can doesn't mean you should! My most recent side project (Drue & Dave) that I've started with my oldest friend has taught me a lot about singing and arranging other peoples songs. I'm especially pleased with my singing in this song: Let me know what you think in the comments. If you like our songs please visit out YouTube channel for more songs (including originals) And if you really like what we do please subscribe and click the bell icon There's 5 songs at the channel and 4 still to be released!
