Hey , 2 weeks ago I released a lesson teaching you the most versatile and useful strumming pattern. But this got me thinking... Is there a picking and fingerstyle equivalent? Any strumming pattern (rhythm) can be converted into a picking pattern. So I put together this for
you: In the lesson I detail 3 of my favourite "go to" picking patterns that fit into many songs. This has exactly the same rhythm as the strumming
video. It's just played with a picking pattern. It's a really helpful pattern for a relaxed feel to your picking songs. This versatile picking
pattern can be used in softer songs and ballads. It's one of those techniques where your guitar becomes the bass player and the lead. It has
countless variation but I teach you the basic pattern in the lesson. A great lesson in time keeping and finger pattern independence is playing all 3 patterns round in a circle. (Like I do at the beginning of the lesson) Here's the lesson link and keep on playing,

P.S. Dave and I released a new song over at the Drue & Dave YouTube channel. We hope you enjoy it as much as we did performing it! |
