[DJ] 90% of students I've taught get this wrong.

Hi ,

learning through video lessons is great.

It's convenient, easy to follow (depending on the teacher) and cheaper than paying for lessons.

However, learning guitar this way does have some drawbacks.

Perhaps the biggest I've seen is lack of RHYTHM.

The reason?

When you start out you normally learn new chords. (all with the fretting hand)

It becomes easy to think that because you're developing muscles in your fretting hand that you're naturally getting better at strumming. So often this isn't the case.

On top of that some teachers presume that the person watching has good rhythm and timing. In fact even the person watching might THINK they have good rhythm, when in reality they don't.

About 10% of people I've taught have good rhythm, but everyone else (myself included) has to learn it.

Keep on playing,
