Hi ,
the first time I heard his music, I didn't get it.
It was too intellectual for my taste. But as I peeled back the layers of
this mysterious music icon there was a wealth of brilliant guitar songs.
His music is still inspiring and motivating other guitarists to this day.
And there's a lot we can learn from David Bowie.
Bowie's choice of chords were always experimental. He knew how to turn heads (both with his music and his image)
If you're a beginner (and you can play a few easy chords) then start of with this awesome ballad:
Heroes - Beginners Guitar Lesson (Just a handful of open chords and a simple rhythm)
If you're an improver (and don't mind taking
on a barre chord or two) then start learning this brand new lesson: (released last week)
Starman - Acoustic Guitar Lesson
Finally, nothing sums up the heights of Bowie's music more than this:
Space Oddity - With On Screen Rhythm Arrows
Let's pay our respects to a creative and inspirational musician who we can all learn from.
Keep on playing,
Drue James.
