[DJ] Being Thankful. (Play a million songs in 30 seconds.)

Published: Tue, 01/31/17

Hi ,

it's cold in my top floor attic room this morning so I'm going to keep this message brief and then warm up downstairs.

Do you ever appreciate how far you've come?

When you're always reaching for the next goal (perhaps learning a new song or technique) it can get tiring. Almost never ending...

I find that 5 minutes of reflection and "being thankful" is enough to charge the batteries.

Not only that it makes learning more enjoyable. More relevant. Even more permanent. So try this... (Regardless of your skill level.)

Think back to the first time you learnt anything on guitar. Remember how clumsy your fingers were. Remember how weird the strings felt under your finger tips. Then let it go.

Come back to the present day and witness how far you've come. Be thankful for how much you've learnt. How far you've progressed. (even if you haven't played in a while.)

The guitar gurus will always be pushing a new idea. A new technique. A new way to play a million songs in 30 seconds.

There will always be new things to learn, but there's no point in learning them if we don't appreciate where we are.

Keep on playing and have a great day,

Drue James.
