Hi ,

I'm home alone with my son Jules. He's bouncy in his chair while I'm writing this email to you.

He's nearly 8 weeks old and it's incredible how much he's learnt already.

He can see faces, he's smiling and he's started making baby chatter.

Some of his skills came quickly and others are requiring more persistence. Much like learning guitar.

You can often pick up little songs quickly, but then you have to dig deeper to master some techniques. Remember this...

If playing guitar was easy then everyone would be doing it.

Travis picking is a good example of a fingerstyle technique that can be like "patting your head whilst rubbing your stomach"

The key is to use a series of lessons that introduce each picking finger at the right time.
