This Song Isn't Good Enough
|
Hey ,
here's a story about how Mick Jagger and Keith Richards wrote a "terrible piece of old tripe"
Before The Rolling Stones wrote their own music they mainly played blues standards.
One day their manager locked them in a kitchen and forced them to write a song together.
The result was a wonderful song called As Tears Go By.
But get this...
Jagger and Richards hatted it. They called it a "terrible piece of old tribe"
But they thought songwriting was "money for old rope" so they sold the song to Marianne Faithfull. She had a huge hit with it in 1964.
The Rolling Stones subsequently recorded their own version in 1965. And it still sounds great to this day.
This song is a welcome addition to the Beginners Fingerstyle Section at the LGIL Website. Just click the image below or go here to learn it. (There's also free TAB at the Student Area)
Keep on playing and have a musical weekend,
Drue James
