Slow with chords?
|
Hey ,
the most infuriating thing about learning guitar is waiting for your hands to speed up and do what their told.
Especially on chords.
The annoying part is you know where to put your fingers, they just won't go there.
They miss the strings. Go in the wrong frets or don't have the strength to press harder enough.
It's easy to get annoyed, but remember this...
Everyone goes through this stage. Clapton, Hendrix, McCartney. They all had to learn their chords.
They didn't get them overnight and there's no innate talent to getting them right quickly.
However there are 4 simple lessons you can put into your practice to make things easier:
1) Use a simple "10 second" mute exercise to make finger muscle memory permanent. - LESSON LINK
2) Make 5 minutes of every practice about deliberate finger strengthening. Meaning you can push the strings faster and stretch your fingers further. - LESSON LINK
3: Set a target and smash it with every practice. This easy 60 second game will increase your chord IQ. - LESSON LINK
4: Learn chords as "shapes under your fingers". This physical visualisation technique is a game changer for middle beginners. - LESSON LINK
Take action, speed up and increase your beginner chord confidence.
You'll find all 4 lessons at the free Quick Start Chord Changing Course at the LGIL Student Area.
Keep on playing,
Drue James
