I'm in the dog house

Hey ,
I'm writing this email to you after I've had a right ticking off from my girlfriend. (more on that later)
But this got me thinking...
How can we grow as guitarists if there's no one there to fairly evaluate our strengths and (not using the word weaknesses anymore) growth edges?
My girlfriend (Lucy) and I have had a few fights over the last year. But every bust up has never been in vain.
They have always led to growth, both as individuals and for our relationship.
I'm not saying they don't hurt.
But when the dust settles there is always something we can learn from it.
Be that a deeper understanding of each other or something personal that we'd like to improve or change.
What does this have to do with learning guitar? Let me explain...
When you start learning guitar you do improve a lot on your own steam.
And many people are happy learning without advice and encouragement from others.
But when you've been playing a while it can be challenging to know how to improve.
You might not know your stronger areas and where you need to grow.
This is the importance of feedback from someone you respect and trust.
It's the reason why Lucy and I can vent at each other. Because although no one is perfect, underneath it all we value and respect each other.
I created LGIL Premium to offer my students a platform to share their playing in a safe and supporting community.
Premium Members send me videos of their playing and they always get encouraging and motivating feedback from myself and Myles.
We often set out a practice plan to improve on a students "growth edge". And we encourage every little win along the way.
Even if it's just turning the camera on and sending us that first video.
Every video sent to us gets a personal touch and we strive to offer direction and encouragement to your practice.
