The 2024 Nehemiah Action will be Monday April 8th at 7:00 PM. It is our annual opportunity to gather with over 1500 members and friends from 20 faith communities in Palm Beach County to hold our elected officials accountable for problems in our community including mental health, police and community relations, and affordable housing. 

Corporations, reale estate developers, and other business interests have the power of money to influence our government officials, but we have the power of people. People power only works if it is visible! Mark your calendar and make plans to attend now! You can register here.

Lake Worth United Church of Christ was well represented at last week's Lake Worth Beach Street Painintg Festival. Raymond Davilla was a first time sidewalk painter, Bianca Lara and crew from Dreyfoos participated again this year, and Atreyu Lara performed with his band!

Palm Beach Pride Festival and Parade

We are looking forward to March 23rd and 24th when we will be sharing God's love and the love of our church with the LGBTQ community and Palm Beach County at Pride Palm Beach.

We will have a booth giving out our famous "We Say Gay Bandanas" and meeting people at the event.

Sunday, March 24th, is Palm Sunday and also the Palm BeachPride parade. We will be gathering for an abbreviated worship service at 9:00 AM that week and then those who are able will head over to the parade. 
 

Richard Rohr

A teacher appreciated by many of us is Father Richard Rohr, who leads The Center for Action and Contemplation. His daily meditation is an inpsiration to many. A couple of weeks ago, the mediation series spent a week on the important topic of our anger and what we can do with it (thanks Carol for highlighting it for us!) You can see that series here.

Coinciding with our Wandering Heart worship series, we are discussing together Faith After Doubt: Why Your Beliefs Stopped Working and What You Can Do About it by Brian McLaren. Drawing on the vast literature regarding stages of faith, McLaren offers his own map. His four stages―Simplicity, Complexity, Perplexity, and Harmony―offer a path forward that can help sincere and thoughtful people leave behind unnecessary baggage and intensify their commitment to what matters most. We will meet for four weeks to discuss this book, beginning Thursday, February 29th at 7:00 PM, in person in our office at 1415 North K ST in Lake Worth Beach and via Zoom here. This book might be a great tool to help you understand your own faith journey and thr journies of those you love.

Mark your calendars for our Nehemiah Action where we will gather with over 800 people from 20 fiath communities in Palm Beach County to hold our public officials accountable for issues concerning affordale housing, mental health, and police and community relations.
