Dear Friends:
This is a really special (and somewhat emotional) day for me, and I wanted to send you all my thanks, and a special gift.
Ten years ago today, I got on a plane and flew to Rome, ready to embark on the journey that would ultimately become Eat, Pray, Love. If I'd had any idea on that morning how much my life was about to change, I probably would've fainted right there in the airport. But I had no idea what was coming to me. I knew only that I was searching for something...for EVERYTHING.
As for what I found during that year of exploration, and what it subsequently became...dear God! I still cannot quite absorb the miracle and scope of it all! I want to thank each and every one of you for having joined me as readers through the most extraordinary journey of my life. I also want to thank you for having opened your hearts and voices to me over these subsequent years, in the homegrown community that sprung up around my book.
I love you all. THANK YOU.
So...as a toke of appreciation for having joined me on THAT journey, I wanted to invite you to join me on the NEXT one. Today, I want to share with you (made public for the first time!) an excerpt...the opening chapter from my new novel "The Signature of All Things". I hope you will dig in and read it with pleasure! (I promise that there are no spoilers, for we are beginning right at the beginning...and we shall stop before things get too heated!)
