The group sitting around a table had opinions about the weather.
"I love this cold snap!"
"I wish it was still as warm as last week."
"We really need rain."
One man had a suggestion.
could take a survey, and ask each person what specific conditions they prefer.... high sixties, low humidity, clouds but not too many, a gentle breeze... Then God could collate them into a consolidated and perfect weather system."
I laughed. Clearly, such an idea was almost as impossible as it was ridiculous. Gardeners vie for precipitation when beach goers beg for
sunshine. My son is a pilot and strong gusts impact his capacity to fly, whereas would be kite enthusiasts crave it.
What is an accommodating Creator to do?
Not give us a vote, that's what.
I can empathize. My children numbered in the single digits, but finding a dinner they could agree on was dicey. Mostly I just made what was in the refrigerator. On their birthdays, though, they had the privilege of choosing.
Maybe if there are birthdays in heaven I can ask God to let me pick the clouds
for that day. I can make sure they are the kind that my grandchildren will see as unicorns and mermaids.
