Howdy,

>>> L2007 patch for Pro Tools 2019.6-ish

A bug was reported for Pro Tools 2019.6 where the L2007 could emit a squeaking noise when deactivating or swapping other plugins on the track. The bug was caused by a change in Pro Tools. It was reported to Avid, but the latest plugin revision (r7117) patches around the issue. On macOS, simply run the wizard app to get up to date. On Windows, you can find a beta installer with the patch (r7168) in the login area of the website.

>>> L2007's new user interface

For the Windows AAX release, some have questioned why the L2007's user interface is markedly different. (I've switched from the common skeuomorphic 3D design to a more minimalist "vector" graphics design. This will eventually make its way to the Mac version as well.)

Creating 3D modeled interfaces is kind of a pain-in-the-butt. It can be fun, but it's really, really time consuming. More significantly, they are just too static. Once laid out and rendered, it's impossible to make simple tweaks and changes without rendering and photoshopping the whole thing over again. And, over the years, people have requested new features and tweaks -- the main one being: a larger reduction meter. The new version now has that. The interface might not be as "fancy" for the time being, but moving forward, I can more quickly iterate on the plugin's design and features to keep it fresh. It's also Retina-ready and can display at full, modern resolutions.

>>> Windows AAX DRT alpha

I put up a new Windows AAX installer (r7168) today. It contains an alpha version of DRT. The Samples panel and printing feature is still forthcoming, but all other functionality in the plugin should be available and hopefully stable.

>>> Speaking of DRT

I'm considering refreshing DRT in the coming year, with an even better detection algorithm and other commonly requested features. I'm also curious how most people are using the plugin these days. If you're a DRT user, could you kindly answer this super-short questionnaire to help shape its future?
