Diffusing Essential Oils Safely Around Dogs
|
|
From time to time, I receive emails from visitors to my site asking if it's safe to diffuse essential oils around their dogs.
It depends, of course, primarily on whether the essential oils are safe for dogs.
However, if you want to diffuse stronger oils (e.g. tea tree oil) in your house but don't want to do it around your dog, there is a way around it as well.
Please check out this article to see how you can diffuse essential oils safely around dogs, and how to diffuse stronger oils at home while keeping your dog safe.

Is Peppermint Oil Safe for Dogs?
|
Another question that many people ask me is whether peppermint essential oil is safe for dogs or not.
The answer is a conditional Yes. If we take safety precautions, peppermint oil is not unsafe to use on dogs. In fact, it has quite a few good therapeutic properties that dogs can benefit from.
Be sure to visit this page to find out more on how you can use peppermint oil safely with your dogs.

I like this spray because it can remove the stuffy and stifling air in a room with all the windows closed, like in the winter time.
You Need:
- 4 drops Lavender essential oil
- 2 drops Peppermint essential oil
- 2 drops Tea Tree essential oil
Directions:
- Mix oils into a 120ml spray bottle with water.
- Be sure to shake each time before spraying.
If you use this as a room spray, remove your dog from the room for about 30 minutes after spraying to be safe. Do not use Tea Tree oil if your dog is sensitive to the oil. You can use Rosalina (Melaleuca ericifolia) instead.
You can also use it as an insect repelling spray. For example, spray liberally in the areas in which there are ants coming and going.

Product Pick - Comfort Gold for Dog Pain
|
While Peppermint oil can relieve acute pain, what if your dog has chronic pain, such as pain brought on by arthritis? While you can use some "warm" essential oils topically to help with the pain, it is also advisable to use herbs internally to reduce pain and promote blood flow.
Comfort Gold is an herbal formula that contains anti-inflammatory herbs such as ginger, turmeric and rosemary, and is effective in helping control chronic pain in pets.
It is invaluable for older dogs with aches and pains!

Until next time, enjoy Spring!
"Dogs love their friends and bite their enemies, quite unlike people, who are incapable of pure love and always have to mix love and hate."
